Default Seven

Has anyone seen the Yeti Seven on the website? It should be out, or will be out soon...
I think its neat that it doesnt have the chain stay on the drivetrain side

I believe it to be a split link type design. I am interested to ride one. They are supposed to by light.

Carbon chainstays on a 7" travel bike - Yikes! That would be expensive to replace....

Isn't Yeti good about warranties on their frames?
Not sure since i've never had one but i remember hearing their pretty good about that stuff

Warranty is one thing, but just general wear and tear - probably not covered. Take one good spill out that side and POOF! Say good-bye to $1000 for a replacement.

Still, it looks like a good evolution in design.

You think it would cost that much?
I was guessing around $600
But either way, that would suck to replace

Those are supposed landing day is late May as of right now, but with all new frames we don't count it till it is on the dock. It is a great Bike and from what I have heard handles great. About the warranty, Yeti Is really good about warranties and I have yet to run into a situation that didn't come out better for the rider. At Jenson we are having a blast working with them and in all my contact with them I would infer that Yeti wouldn't have put a Carbon Fiber Rear on the Seven unless they had tested it and proved it worthy of being on their 7 inch FR machine.

And we thought the 575 carbon swingarm was flexy.
So what happens to the rear axle when the swingarm bottoms out on the shock?

On second thought, the lefty has been working this long without snapping axles. But a specially designed axle. Of course yeti did their homework, but you gotta question unconventality.

I just don't see the need for carbon frame components on a 7.2 lb 7" frame. The carbon may save you a pound, at the very most, but probably more like a few hundred grams. It hardly seems worth it when you consider the potential consequences. Never mind the fact that DH/FR bikes get beefy cranks and bars and brakes, so weight is obviously not a big deal.

Forget the warranty, which I am sure Yeti will make good on; what happens to your body when the rear end snaps coming off a drop? Will they warranty your nut sack?

This reminds me of Richard Cunningham's MBA's response letter about The GF HiFi carbon seatstays.
Paraphrasing from memory: "Of all the stupid places to use carbon this is it. Carbon is weakest in compression. Most of the weight of the stays are in the dropouts and lugs. It's just a place to put carbon where it is highly visible so we can say Oooh! that's cool."

yeah its components build is for xc/am but that frame design with 7" travel is FR??? and carbon chainstays with that new design....might be a better idea to dumb it down, keep that frame design for a 4-5" bike. i do think that yeti could use a new FR design but i dont think this is it.

I guess this is where "AM" is heading. First 5", then 6", now 7"? I don't think I would call this a FR bike. I don't see how that swingarm can not be flexy. Maybe give the Slocom guys something to make fun of

I'd be interested in riding one though just for edification.

Not sure I'm liking the RD cable routing either. I could see snagging my shoe on the cable getting on the bike.

i guess all the lighter stuff is starting to be beefed up. first 1.5" headtubes and now 12mm TA rear axles with carbon chainstays. let the beef up continue
