Default Oh people of craig's list. You are after my heart!

Sometimes I like to post a rant about how some people on craig's list try to sell you amazingly over priced stuff or just weird bike junk in general.

Here's a sweet deal on a reproduction of a bike from the 1880's. Keep in mind how cheap this thing would be to make and how 5k for 1880's technology seems a bit much. That's like 400k in 1880's dollars? I mentioned it's a reproduction right? I wonder if it's a fixie?

This post got me wondering if that was the first bicycle design so I did a search on bicycle history. This is a great brief summary of the first bike designs:

http://www.pedalinghistory.com/PHhistory.html

Notice it says:
"These bicycles enjoyed a great popularity among young men of means (they cost an average worker six month's pay)"

The more things change, the more they stay the same.
