Default An open letter to STR

I want to personally thank each and everyone that left comments to my post about my nephew dying yesterday. As many of you pointed out, just writing about this seemed to help with the grieving. I haven't sat and cried in years but like a spring rain, it helped to clear the air. I cannot express my gratitude for the support that I've gotten here... without choking up ... even from strangers that don't know me but are members of our Tribe.

I want you to know that I am grateful to be surrounded by friends that care ... and that it really transcends the very thing that brings us together... the bike.

thank you...

OMR, I am fairly new to this group yet it quickly became apparent to me that you are a major contributor to this family. Not in the sense of just how many post you have, or how many thanks you receive. It is found in what you bring in the way of advice, sincerity, and compasion that makes you a special member. We can only hope to give back a tiny piece of these things at such a trying time to someone that gives these things to us without ceasing.

I pray that God blesses you, your nephew's family, and his friends with the ability to see your way throught this time. God bless.

Gregg, I missed your post but my heart goes out to you. Losing a family member is very tough. I lost my mom last year and my dad a few years before that. It must be especially tough to lose a younger family member. My comforting thoughts and prayers are with you tonight!

I'm so sorry to hear about your nephew. Sorry I missed your post. Knowing that one of the tribe members is hurting, hurts all of us.

Gregg-I had also missed your original post. Of course you have my deepest sympathies. Loss is always a challenge, but sudden loss of youth is especially devastating.

While this is certainly tragic, there is something to celebrate here. From your story it seems like just a few years ago if this had happened, you might have accepted it as the inevitable result of the path he was on. Now, while shocking, I hope you take comfort in the fact that he had turned his life around and made a contribution to the world. Now he can be remembered with love as someone who left a positive legacy. I hope you can find some happiness in that.

Best wishes to you and your family.

OMR, as you and I know, this is a great group of people we have here for sure. Yes, we band together on all the fun stuff, but when one of the members is troubled, we band together even more.

You never "get over" things like this, but time will help you to hurt less. Unexpected loss is the hardest ever. *hug*
