Default San Diego hotels?

Hoping to plan a long weekend in SD or Coronado with familia. In the past have stayed at marriot at marina and marriott resort on coranado, Hotel del Coranado and a few hotels in gaslamp district.

Anyone got any recommendations for a hotel aside from above that is on or walking distance (think 2 year old) to the beach?

close to a bike path would be way cool as well for some riding and taking the little monster in bike trailer. think noble is not on agenda this trip

We've never stayed at this hotel, but it looks pretty nice. The beach it's on is one of the better ones for kids (we have a 4 year old and a 21 month old).

It's not cheap, but you may want to look at other hotels in the area.

I lived in SD for about 8 years. IMHO, this is the best place by the beach. Super Old School / locals NICE.
It is on the bay side (quiet side, kid friendlier) but is only a block from beach side (crowded, noiser)
Check it out:

If you want even fancier, but not as kid friendly. La Valencia in La Jolla

The Paradise Point is another awesome resort. Its also on the bay side, but is also walking distance to Mission Beach.

It also has a fun mini-golf course that goes all over the property. Its not Boomer's style mini golf, its all real grass, and its really nice.

Great spot for kids and adults.

The Hilton (is it still a Hilton?) on Mission Bay is nice. They have some bungalow-style rooms which are good for families - own entrance, ground floor, etc. Also the Doubletree on the corner of Pacific Hwy, and Harbor (I think, maybe Market) that is downtown, right across the street from the water just up from the marina, and also right across from Seaport Village, which is great for kids. Both of these options are bike friendly.

If you get a chance take the ferry from downtown (with bikes) to Coronado, ride around the island and take the ferry back, is very inexpensive and fun, something like $3.50 per person with bikes one way.

Enjoy your stay. I'm not sure if you have a trailer for the kid, but you'll be right on a bike/walk path that goes around the bay. If you don't have one, PM me and you can borrow ours if you're interested.

quick update - we just came back last night from long weekend at Catamaran. Mostly good stuff. great location between ocean and bay! My son loved the waterfowl and carp in the running streams on hotle prop. way huge hit with all the kids staying there.

SDyeti - my wife did hit the spa but not sure who worked her...amybe your friend?

yes, most def a party town but cannot say having out 2+ year old in tow accomodated too much nuttiness for moms and pops

Again thanks to all!
