Default My new 69er.

Just got it yesterday. Last 21.5 in the Country! Need to pay for it still, so I am in agony as it is sitting in my shop, and I cannot ride it! (waiting for my tax return) I will follow with a RR as soon as I get it out!

I decided to give it a try. I'm tired of getting smoked by guys on hardtails on the uphills! And I was not ready to go full 29er.

I will for sure. I can't wait! I did change out the cheeseball non-series crankset that came on it. I usually hate flat bars as well, but on this bike it feels like home. Trek nailed the geometry down pretty good.

Kdog,
Very nice choice. I have been riding my Leviathan as a 69er for about a month or 2 now and think its a great way to go. It didn't work with the Reba fork, but with the Fox it is sweet. Confidence and traction up front with speed and agility in the back.

Please let us know how you like it.

Nope, my camera died before I got there. I would post a text only RR, but I feel like people don't read 'em. Should I?

You're gonna love that combination. There's something about the way the 29" wheel feels up front and how fast the 26" wheel accelerates.

I'm officially jealous.....

Default First ride: Amazing!

Well, In my typical impatient fashion, I could not wait for my tax return, so I did whatever possible to pay for this bike! Knowing that it was sitting at my shop...sitting. waiting for me was too much to handle! I did not have too mucn time, so I took it on a short loop near my house through Craig Regional park, along a dirt trail up to St. College and Bastanchury, and up through hillcrest park(by the Summit House rest.) All in all only 900 feet of gain, but still a good test.

I am spoiled. Having not owned a hardtail in 6 years, has actually made me a worse rider I do think. I have a long, long BMX racing background, so my bike handling is great. I missed hardtails more than I thought! The flat bar is perfect for this bike. The 120 stem is perfect as well. I thought I would have to change these things, before I could ride the bike. Not the case.

Boy do I miss climbing on a hardtail! Wayyyyyy easier! I felt like I was climbing 20 to 30% better than my full susser. Zero lost traction going uphill, seated normally.

I took some pics, and started back downhill. This bike rips corners like nobody's business. It feels very proportioned, and very well balanced. I was very impressed.

Overall, a fun ride(but too short) The bike weighed in at 26.01lbs out of the box, size 21.5. Not too shabby in my opinion. More to follow, I need to get some miles under my belt!
