=== DISCLAIMER === For those who inadvertently dropped in on this thread thinking it might just be a much anticipated thread on the radical table game of Foos Ball, I am sorry (though if I did play the game competitively -- or at all -- I would want to name my team Foos Fighters! Yeah, baby!!). ======= No, this is something else (and perhaps Duan might like it!!): I am taking the fam to Foo Fighters tomorrow night at the Forum! Woot! I had a helluva time getting tickets... I am an esteemed member of the KROQ Street Team (sure I signed up... so??!!), and I got early notification that tickets would go on sale on a Thursday morning back when. On that day I sat in front of my computer as the clocked ticked down to the 10AM start of the pre-sale. At precisely 10:00:00 I clicked in and tried 52 freakin' times to get set up with seats, entirely to no avail. Damn! What are those kids doing?!?! Skipping classes to buy Foos tickets, fer chrissakes??!! (Damn right...) So, I was wholly unsuccessful and was truly bummed for days and days. I then told a pal at work why I was so glum. Turns out he knows the bass player and he ended up pulling some strings and got us connected through CAA (*ahem*) for a nice set of tickies for me. Suh-WEET! But, this actually has to do with mountain biking. No, seriously! Taylor Hawkins, the Foos drummer, lives just four or five houses up from my roadie buddy and former drummer Craig's house in Topanga Canyon. Several years ago, Taylor was buzzing around the neighborhood on his red scooter as we were in Craig's garage practicing for some upcoming gig. He stopped by and said hello and hung out for a little while (I had no idea who he was -- just some long-haired kid on a scooter). After he left, Craig said, "That's my neighbor Taylor -- he plays drums for Foo Fighters." Holy crap, I thought -- why didn't you let him sit in for a while?!?!?! My chance at fame, blown by the drummer... So, it turns out Taylor likes to roll on the MTB, so I am going to see if Craig can get him out for a ride sometime soon. That would be a kick. shud |

Thats awesome let me know when he goes for a ride with you guys. I love the Foo Fighters. They are one of the few rock and roll bands out right now that I really enjoy. Have fun at the concert!

The Foos were amazing last night. Can't say the same for openers Against Me and Serj Tankian -- their sets were killed by awful sound.
But, the Foos kicked out the jams, for sure! I only had my crappy iPhone cam, but here's a couple of shots. We were right at the edge of the second stage, so when they went acoustic they came right down to our end of the arena. Awesome -- never been so close to the band at a major event like this. Pat Smear (Pat played on the Nirvana MTV Unplugged sessions and is now touring as a third guitarist with the boys): ![]() I was trying to get the feel of what it looks like when everyone and their brother has a cell phone cam. That's Pat again in the bg: ![]() And a couple of Dave The Man. He's the real deal: ![]() ![]() Sadly you can't make a single adjustment -- like shutter speed or aperture -- on the iPhone. You just get what youse gets. shud |
