Default Just a reminder about drinking and driving

I really don't drink alcohol that much, and when I do, I generally keep it to a minimum. However, I know there are a lot of people here who drink, so I thought this reminder of some of the consequences may be good.

A coworker of mine has always been at least a casual drinker. Like many of us, he often talks about going to the pubs after work to hang out or listen to the latest bands. Although I don't know the circumstances, he recently split up with his wife, and in his mid 40s, he had to move back in with his parents.

But bad went to worse. He's been at this company for a number of years, and he had tremendous growth opportunities. Well, apparently, he got busted for DUI while driving a company car. Now, not only does he face the normal consequences of the DUI charge, but I just heard that he was terminated from his job as a result of it (because he was driving a company car).

Yes, things could have been worse, such as an accident resulting in injuries or fatalities, but his immediate future does not look well. Keep this in mind the next time you have a drink and then get behind the wheel.

that is no bueno, hope he can recover.

me and all my friends learned form my one friend that blew a .05 a week before his 21st bday. after that we dont even mess around with drinking and driving.

we all learned from his mistake and likewise hopefully people will learn from this.

i am actually very skilled with drinking and driving. i practiced it lots in mexico on spring break every year during college. driving was always the final challenge in "Drunk Man Olympics".
Sweet you went to those olympics also. Mexico should be the olympic training center for these kind of events.

A customer of mine back when I worked retail told me he had been fired from a job for not disclosing a previous DUI when he was hired. The OP's friend will not only have trouble now because he's out of a job but many places will look to applicants without a record when hiring.

DUI is the gift that keeps on giving.
