Because I think Fluffy met an untimely death at the hands of coyotes. Found this carcass at the initial climb up Chiquita Ridge this morning...

at least they'll know for sure what happened. we say two stray dogs goofing around up on red sign today as well.

looks like the hind leg is intact for a good luck charm. You know like the rabbits foots they had in the 80's!

It could also be a 'yote that a "cat" got a hold of or an injured 'yote that the rest of the family decided would make a good meal.

When we lived in the hills around Chatsworth I used to take "fluffy" out to chase the coyotes all the time. He had a blast.

we find cat carcasses often around here. they usually aren't as intact. my wife found a cat face once. nothing left but like the snout and part of the jaw.

a coyote woke us up attacking a neighbor's cat. we saved that one.

people should know better than to let their cats stay out all night...

this one seemed like it was dead a while because the neck vertabraes are pretty bleached...i'm pretty sure it wasnt another yote, paw wasnt characteristic of a yote

not to familair with animal anatomy (nor husbandry

) but are the bones towards the back end of the dog the vertabrae??? if so they look a bit large comped the the size of the head and front legs???? is this for real of some stuff put together by some kids as a "joke"?

from left to right...it's the hind leg, then front leg, the vertabrae is the segmented neck bone...underneath that was the skull

That's why you need to get a real dog and not a purse dog.

Sucks for the owner though. I love dogs like family.
