SO my wife and I were having somewhat of a heated discussion tonight and I want to know how others feel about this.
She went out to the Stampede (I hate this place) the other night with some friends. She got mad at one of her friends because she took off her wedding ring so that she could flirt with other guys. The flirting did not go past talking (her friend did not dance with anyone or anything) she just wanted to appear single. I think this is similar for married guys who just want to feel like they still got it or whatever. When I told my wife that I didn't see a big problem with someone married flirting with another person she blew up. It got a little out of control and we had to stop talking about it because we just don't agree on the subject. I would never flirt with another girl because I know how much it means to her but i sense a little insecurity here more than anything. How do you all feel about this?

there is alot of people men and women that need the assurance of getting hit on from time to time, alot of people a little too much. It seems to happen more with people who are " bored" in there relationships but people who are perfectly happy do it also I think alot of it has to do with the attention people recieved while growing up. A sfor boundries within a marriage or relationship that is something that has to be worked out from within the relationship and I'm sure everyone else has different rules. Isnt that what swingers are ?the extreme end self assurance while staying in a relationship?

a little mushy, but you dont need to flirt if you have someone you love.

A wise man once told me "It doesn't matter where you work up your appetite as long as you go home for dinner."
Then again, I'm not so sure if that wise man lived in the real world or Happy Fun Imaginationland.

I think it's a bad idea. You took vows to honor and cherish. How is flirting honoring?? How is flirting cherishing?? Vows aren't just some words you say because it's what you do in a wedding. They are vows--promises.
Flirting can only lead to a bad place. No good will come of it. Someone who needs that kind of validation is missing something at home and it's not healthy. I've been married for over 7 years and the thought of seeing my wife after being away from her all day still excites me like when we were dating. I can't imagine flirting with another woman. Then again, a whole lot of people shouldn't have gotten married in the first place. That's one reason why the divorce rate is so high. Just one jerk's opinion.

I hate the place too, and I have never been there. I guess my daughter and niece like it though (The Stampede must like them too, they put them on the front page of their website).

It's not 'insecurity', it's a matter of respect. If someone can't respect their mate enough to not behave as if they're single when he/she isn't around, then their ass should be kicked to the curb. Not to offend anyone, just my opinion and what I think should be expected in a committed relationship. And to go so far as to remove a wedding ring, c'mon doesn't that go a little beyond then just wanting to flirt? Again, IMO the person removing the wedding ring to flirt is the one who's insecure if they feel they need the flirtatious attention of a stranger instead of their significant other.

I pull way more chicks with my wedding ring on, I think they like the challenge. Plus there always a chance you can pick up another married couple!

I will say this, my ex was a chatter box, so I never thought much off it. Well I found out the hard way, flirting became cheating. We have two kids so I still have to deal with her. I did learn a valuable lesson however. Not all women are the same, but red flags should not be taken lightly, Thank god i never got married or i would be paying alimony, along with child support.
