Currently I'm using an older version of dream weaver to make my personal photography site, which almost never gets updated due to the fact it is a pain to add photos to it using dreamweaver mx. What program is everyone else out there using or what am I missing with uploading photos to myhost. If there a bulk upload option I'm missing somewhere.

What should I put here?

Essentially you want a CMS, a content management system, not an HTML editor, if you're doing frequent updates. But if the site is strictly for photos, you could look at smugmug.com's offerings. You can point your domain to them, set up galleries, bulk upload photos and even sell them at a profit if you want. There are other sites out there that do similar things, but their's is the most customizable one I've come across.

As mentioned above, please throw your HTML editor away.
Gallery will be the easiest and fastest way to get a photo site up. It's stupid easy to maintain as well. You can also add in a shopping cart and watermarking pretty quickly. If you find that you need more non-photo content, as mentioned above a CMS will be needed. Drupal can integrate well with Gallery and is full featured and easy to use. If your Webhost supports Cpanel and Fantastico you just have to click to install Gallery and Drupal. If your host does not support cpanel and Fantastico, I recommend getting a new host.

i've seen some real nice flickr plugins integrated with wordpress as the CMS. all free options. but since you're going to selling your photos you might want to go with smugmug like mentioned before. good luck with your site.

i did the smugmug thing for a year, but didnt renew the membership anyways, the forum that goes with it is really helpfull the guy Andy posts all the HTML for all kinds of different things for the site, and there is a ton of tutorial on the HTML as well over there, but again check out the www.bludomain.com they have sites that are $100 bucks and it only costs 100 a year to host, where as you are going to pay 150 a year at smugmug for their pro account. |

Figure out how many photos you sold in the past and adjust your prices to account for the Smugmug fees. Not sure what you charge but I'm sure charging an extra $1 per photo or something isn't going to hurt your sales. I would stick with something geared towards selling photos. Stuff like Drupal and Joomla and the like will just take time away from you taking photo's and making money. Good luck. |

You know, i have never sold prints through and automated system, and i have sold alot of prints, i simply have the client email me the order, then i order through a proffesional printing company, i personaly use white house custom color. or whcc for short. its way cheeper and they dont take a % of your sales.
