If you're going to spend the money, at least go with a current system.
The PS2 is about 7-8 years old now I believe. I'm not sure exactly, but I do have NBA Live 2001 and Madden 2001, so my guess should be close. |

i have a PS2, and XBOX and an XBOX 360, well my brother does and ive spent hours playing each..
i have not played the PS3 yet.. if your going to spend the money on a game system, i would say go with the XBOX 360 or a PS3.. Personally, i think the XBOX 360 is better

well, if you plan on playing online games ps3 is no good, they do not have a good online system.
but if you are planning on just playing regular ps3 is the only way to go. i am an xbox360 player and i would suggest that as well. |

XBox 360 is the best game console available. They now have the HD DVD add on as well if you need it. Better games, tons more games, better online community, etc etc etc

Depends....
If you just want one for the game play then save cash and get the PS2. Games are way cheaper, console is way cheaper. PS3 doesn't have many top titles out right now. You can get more fun, challenging, and interesting games on the PS2 at the moment. Graphics wont be as good though. Personally, I have had a PS2 for a long time, like since they came out. Never really played until recently. When the PS3 price drops and they start have the $20 games I will go ahead and get one. Until then, I have enough fun with the PS2. |

Always go with the current generation. If you are primarily a gamer I would go Xbox 360 route. If you have doubt just visit any store and walk the game aisles and you will see what I am talking about. I don't think Resistance Fall of Man and Motorstorm warrants a PS3 purchase today. Everything else is on the 360 as well with many reviews giving the 360 the thumbs up as far as frame rate goes. Give the developers some more time and I think the PS3 this time next year will have some really good games going for it and thats when I will jump in.

PS 3 will have some awesome games in 2008. The issue right now with PS3 games is many game develophers did not have the tools or the knowlege to design games for the full PS3 output. The majority of current games for the PS3 do not show the true power of what the PS3 can do. Last year I would have said Xbox this year PS3. The PS3 will be able to play Blu Ray DVD and the online service you do not have to pay for. The Xbox 360 online service you have to pay 50 bones a year. Overall PS3. I will pick up my PS3 when resistance Fall of Man comes out.

PS3
Just for the fact that it is in the blue ray format. The capabilities are huge with this gaming sysem. Xbox 360 is cool, great games, and yeah more games than PS3 "right now", but like said earlier, once the developers tool up, the PS3 games will blow all away, in terms of definition and map size. The Blue ray disk can hold so much more information on it than all the other formats combined. Might as well future proof yourself. The PS3 can be updated via internet (wireless), so plug-ins, add-ons, firmware, support, free online gaming, kick-a$$ audio/video. PS3 is my choice! |

HD-DVD is dead. Toshiba bailed on it's beloved format Monday 2/18/08. PS3 has a great online system.... it's free! What can be better? I play online all the time and can attest it is good. The games will be better this year with the PS3. They don't have a ton of selection right now. The stupid PS2 is still selling better than any other console aside from the nintendo gameboy thing. you can install linux on the PS3 for god's sake. It's a pretty amazing machine and much more a computer with all the updates.

Hugh,
What everyone else neglected is how little benefit there would be on the smal screen. If your TV is less than 32 inches or so the difference in detail is hardly worth the sticker shock. The larger your screen the worse standard pictures look and all this HD noise starts to make sense. I was wondering about my LCD until I went to an HDMI cable and saw how it was intended to look, and the difference was night and day. So although I don't feel the PS3 is worth it for the casual gamer, the digital connection would be far superior if you have a 1080 TV. If not save your cash, get more of those delightful uncrustables and pick up Manhunt 2. |

How long has PS3 been out? They still don't have a very large selection of games after all this time IMO. PS2 is great for the casual gamer abd has a large selection of all kinds of games.

So it looks like PS3. The last game player I had was the OG Nintendo. We blew that up at the river years ago with the shotguns..
The PS3 will be played on a 50in 1080p plasma . The things that steered me towards the PS3 are HDMI connection, WiFi, and Blue ray. Thanks people!HUGH ![]() |
