Default Good beer where you'd never expect it...

So I was out in Utah last weekend, and being that seeking out good beer anywhere i go is kind of a modus operendi for me, i went out beer foraging at the local Utah State Liquor Store...and struck gold!
I haven't been able to find what i've always thought to be one of the best american barleywines in so cal for years - Full Sail Old Boardhead. First time i tasted this gem was back in 2001, both a 98 and 99 vintage up at a beer festival in Anchorage. Anyway, there it was, 2007 vintage, just chilling on the shelf like it wasn't anything out of the ordinary. So I bought a bunch! Who'd figure on finding good beer in a state beer store, in utah of all places...

Went to Squatters brewery in downtown SLC too, which is always good, even if the beers are 3.2 - 4%.

Oh yeah, Brighton and Solitude were epic too!

I love finding things in places you never expected, kinda like finding a 20 in an old pair of pants.

Ever tired www.beerme.com good place to find out of the norm brews, they may redirect you to www.liquidsolutions.biz if you want to buy online.

They have your Full Sail!

When we were in UT we liked a couple brews from the Wasatch Brew Pub & Brewery. We did have to bring a few of these home just because of the labels;

Tim, you'd better save one Old Boarhead to drink with me. I will reciprocate very generously. Thank you sir.

similar story...Sierra Nevada Bigfoot at the state liquor store in Parowan, UT!!!!
1.40 a bottle...Pacificos were 1.80 a bottle!!??!
Ride Brianhead all day then sweet Bigfoot....mmmmmmmmmm

note: for all of you that go or are going to go to Utah, the "real beer" is at the state liquor stores and is not an arm and a leg for a 12 pack.
or stop in Mesquite
