Default valentines day: wha'd you cook for your better half?

stuffed steaks here. got a pair of new yorks, on the thick side, made up a stuffing of baby portabellos and diced onion, and then cut a large slit into the steak, stuffed it, wrapped in bacon (pork fat makes all better), pinned with toothpicks, and bbq'd!

oh and homemade pizookis for desert (see recipe of the day thread)

started early on the wine: bottle of Bordeaux, bottle of Willamette valley pinot noir (Erath). (our 1st anniversary present- thanks andy! yes- it took us nearly two years to get to it...)

the evening was good!

I bought pre-marinated Tri-Tip at Costco, so Justin bbq'd that, and then I chopped up some veggies (squash, zucchini, red peppers, onions with olive oil, garlic powder, and italian seasonings) and baked them. Dessert was dark chocolate squares.

Nice...I see you've adopted it as your own. Now, you have to try it with sweet potatoes (salt, olive oil)...delish!

those pre-marinated tri-tips are insane good.

another way to cook it: sear in a damn hot pan until browned on all sides, finish in a 350 degree oven for 1/2 hour or so.

nope- sorry.

too much wine moment of the night: left the bbq on to burn off the residue, apparently left the burners on all night. so much for the fresh bottle of propane- $20 gone. poof. oh well, at least it didn't hinder "other activities"

doh!
