Anyone else getting these kind of "IRS" emails? At first glance it appears to be legit, but when you click it takes you offsite to a phishing type place. I only hovered, didnt actually click though. But come to think of it, when is our govt ever proactive about giving back to us schmuks?

How did the IRS get your email address?
I'm sure it's not a line item on the tax form.

There was an article in the L.A.Times about a week ago.This is a fraud,and it is/was supposed to contain a virus

Seriously, when has the govt ever done anything in 3-9 days? Don't even have to look at the link to see it's fraud.

Since he is using web mail I doubt he is going to get a virus. Now when he clicked on the link to the website that was the point he might have contracted something. Did you wear a rubber?

Most State/Federal stuff will come via currier not email. Unless its something you initiated via email with them.

Fyi.

The IRS will NEVER send you an email. All communication and notices sent by the IRS will be done by mail.

"Regards" from the IRS. Yep, that looks legit.

Most amazing of all, people do fall for this stuff.

Hey I just got the same notice. Looks like I'm getting the exact same refund as you! And I didn't even have to file my tax return!
