It's not so much the motors, 1.8t and VR6 are good but electrical problems are far too common.

No they arent....I know a guy thats been a VW/Porsche mechanic for about 40 years and he said the 2003-2005 GTIs are really good....

Yes I do plan on getting the 1.8T and main reason im NOT getting the new body style, is it looks too much like a civic hatchback....

Im only planning on chipping it, exhaust and an intake with some suspension work, brake upgrades, and some interior stuff.... MAYBE a bigger turbo in the future...

+1 for VW Specialties on price and quality of work, but the advanced bookings would be a lot easier to deal with if you predict when your car's gonna break down (insert VW reliability joke here).

I had great experiences working with Maxed Performance in H.B. They are good, honest people who get things done on time and at or under the estimate.

That's what they all say. Once you get started, it's hard to stop.

new software makes the 1.8T soooo much more fun to drive. the only things you need to do to a mkiv gti is software, rear sway bar and ipod integration. everything else is just extra after that.

Larry is still there and he's the only guy we'll deal with. No one has ever pissed me off quite like the people at McKenna HB. The sales manager, Barry Sklar is a total POS M-F'er. The service guys were always dicks too. Commonwealth has been great. Larry hooked us up with the fleet manager when we bought my wife's new Jetta and the guy didn't have any problem giving us a great deal, he usually sells a bunch of cars at a time or does corporate leasing, so he didn't really care about making money off of us.

Im planning on getting the GIAC flash and I already have a deal on a Magnaflow then Im going to look into intakes soon and figure out which are decent....

Im also going to bump the brakes to powerslot rotors, goodridge lines and maybe Akebono pads....

Suspension will be Eibach pro-kits and possibly Koni adustables or Tokico D-specs when they are released for the GTI....

everything else will be minor stuff.... I am still looking for wheels....

VW's at the auction by far have the highest Junk rating of any other car, besides maybe Cadillac.
