...fantastic...yeah...it's old but I like the old commercials. Pau Gasol performed pretty well for not knowing the triangle or the players that well. I can't imagine when the chemisty improves.
Whats up with the Suns and Heats deal with Shaq??!?!? http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/7764252 The Suns will be taking a huge gamble that Shaq will gain motivation during the last half of the season for him to bring a championship to Arizona. Historically his been this way with the Lakers and the Heats. Either way, the Suns must feel threatened by the Lakers after the aquisition of Gasol. ![]() |

It was kinda shocking when I first heard it on the news yesterday.
Seems like a great trade for Miami - not so much for Phoenix. I can't imagine Shaq running up and down the court more than 2-3 times without getting winded. It should be a great trade for Lakers fans as well Thanks Steve Kerr. |

What I don't get is PHX changing their whole offense 1/2 way through the season
As posted Shaq can't run the floor

I'm not sure about the details of this trade but if they are banking on 1-2 years of peak performance from Nash and they are hoping that Shaq will get motivated to make a run for title and say they do beat the Lakers, teams like the Spurs will wipe the floor with them.

The Suns are a run and gun team. They can't run that style with Shaq-Foo. I think they are desperate ![]()

I think it's desperation. They see themselves as being poised now and needing something to put them a step closer now. I'm just glad the Lakers got Gasol and got rid of Kwame. I guess Phoenix hit the panic button when they saw that as the Lakers already matched up decently with Phoenix.
It will be interesting to see how the Suns reconcile the differences in their style with who Shaq is today. And it will also be interesting to see if Shaq will embrace a role that could see him him NOT being the 'go to guy' or even one of the 'go to guys' as he's likely to need to be needed more for a defensive role rather than a centerpiece of the Sun's system. It does however, give Shaq a chance to have another run in the post-season with a very good team, but it's a very strange coupling. I can see the ratings soaring with a Suns/Lakers series (should it become a reality) and the NBA must be rubbing their hands together like flies on you-know-what. |

I personally think it's a horrible trade for Pheonix and a very good one for Miami. Shawn Marion is a great small forward and is still young and healthy. I can't imagine why a team would want Shaq when he's obviously on the down side and near the end of his career. In his prime, arguably one of the best dominant big men that ever played. In his 30's, his lard-ass traits caught-up with him and has been full of injuries. Too bad he didn't learn a thing or two from Kareem who knew how to take care of himself physically and played until he was 41 years old.
I guess Dr. Buss and Mitch weren't as foolish as everyone thought when they pretty much let Shaq go to Miami a few years ago. They anticipated this and questioned his longevity (or lack there of) and pulled the plug accordingly. I believe the Suns are desperate and this will only hurt them as Shaq cannot run up and down the court. He might survive in a half court offense but not a run-and-gun one like Pheonix runs. I think the West is sweating bullets with the new and improved Lakers with Gasol. I can see them in the Western Conference finals now. Especially if Bynum returns healthy.

I don't know if Shaq's contract is guaranteed, but if it is, I think Phoenix is betting the farm's future on this season's prospects.
Just a hunch, but I think Kerr and Sarver will end up with egg on their face and maybe enough cab-fare to slink out of town. Only one thing is certain, it'll be interesting to watch the whole thing play out. Joe Truth: "I guess Dr. Buss and Mitch weren't as foolish as everyone thought when they pretty much let Shaq go to Miami a few years ago. They anticipated this and questioned his longevity (or lack there of) and pulled the plug accordingly. " They were between a rock and a hard place and history may prove them right in the long run, but this Laker juggernaut could have gone way wrong on many occasions between then and now. Only life's strange way of reality being more interesting than fiction could be responsible for today's circumstances. |

Anywho, definitely Lakers looked good last night. If they continue to play like this, they will be a front runner for the west. Imagine when Bynum comes back... Go LAKERS!!! |

Lets not get crazy about the Lakers. You guys forget about Phx you need to get through them first. If Shaq gets in shape and is able to run with Phx bye bye Kobe and the Lakers, besides we all know the Celtics are going the NBA championship.
