I'm digging "Where'd You Go" by Fort Minor.

you should check it out if you like verbal poetry (i refuse to call it rap or whatever)

I wholeheartedly agree.

Another good band I've run across recently is Celldweller. It's industrial/hard rock I'd say. Check out "Frozen" and "Switchback"

Edit: Can't go wrong with Tool.

Yes, Tool is a must in any setting. Hard to go wrong with Tool. On a side note, if you've never seen Tool live, I highly recommend you do so. Smaller the venue the better but considering how big they've become, that's not likely anymore. I've had the good fortune to catch them in the 90's on Sunset when they were up and coming still. I caught them 2 summers ago on the 10,000 Days tour up in Fresno and Maynard and the boys were as good as ever and still kicking some serious ass. IMO, arguably, one of the best live acts.

Any Drive-By Truckers fans? They're playing the Anaheim and Sunset Strip HOBs in a couple weeks. I still need to pick up their new record before the show.

and a simply stunning song by former member Jason Isbell:
