But above all, it's a price thing. The same TV I bought for $1300 would have been $2200 for the 120 Hz. That's the trouble with technology; at some point you've got to put blinders on to what's the latest and greatest and most cutting edge and just figure out what makes the most economic sense.
At Fry's I was bouncing back and forth between the Sony 40"w3000 1080p 60hz $1349 and 46"v2500 60hz $1499
decided on Samsung 4069 40" 1080p 120hz $1469

b/c I could see a difference in the 60/120hz....and the 46" I felt was going to be a little big for my current place

Out of Best Buy...Circuit City...Fry's....Fry's had the better prices on the 3 tv's I listed....

HDMI cable question....Monster is EXPENSIVE (3' for $99)... I have found some others for as low as $15 that have the same specs....are the Monster overrated or are "less expensive ones" claiming they are better then they really are?

The BluRay HD-DVD war seems will be dragged on maybe longer than it needs to be. The Adult Film Industry has changed their mind and has decided to go with the HD-DVD format. Having a need for HD porn isn't the point here.

Remember VHS vs BETA? We all know that Sony's BETA was the superior format as far as picture went. Although there were many contributing factors to the eventual win of VHS, many argued that it was the Adult Film Industries endorsement that finally tipped the boat to the VHS camp. Lets face it, it is a billion dollar industry that thrives off of movie sales and it is not going away. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

While on topic on Sony's Blueray, here are some of their other formats.
Betamax
Mini-disc
Atrac
MicroMV
UMD

Not overly excited about my support for some of these formats.

No I am not a HD-DVD fanboy or XBOX fanboy. I own a PS1, PS2, XBOX and XBOX 360. When the software developers can get a grasp of the cell processor and develop games that utilize it, I will be an owner of a PS3 as well which means I could care less which way it goes. So I guess that will cover me as far as formats go. But for those of you who do not play games, buy your dedicated player with caution and consider renting from Netflix before heavily investing in purchased discs.

Here is a very short article.

Shu!!!!

Please don't buy monster cables they are the biggest ripoff. Non technical people see the gold connectors on the ends of cables and get suckered by this. Those cables are not going to make any difference. If they make any difference you will not be able to hear or see it. Only way to actually see a difference is to hook video and audio output to a scope. The only time cables make a difference is if your running long cable lengths and most people in consumer electronics do not run long cable lengths. If you did run long cable lengths you can use a distribution amp to compansate for the signal loss from the long cable length.

Its just a marketing gimick. People always think wow this is new technology so it must be expensive. If you want to talk about expensive cable look into fiber optic. For your HDMI cable go online and buy them you can get them online on Amazon or ebay for like 10 bucks. We have them here at my work but I am sorry I can't get you any.

I third this motion. I talked to a professional installer on my route and he confirmed it is baloney. It is a digital signal, which unlike analog does not need all that crap Monster likes to charge you extra for. Kind of like using monster cables for your computer, like usb and firewire. Save the cash for other toys!

Yea TK-421!!!!! Or when you know who Biggs Darklighter is, or if you know the story behind the Sarlac and Boba Fett (why he survived it). Or what did Han Solo do before he was a smuggeler and how did Chewi and him become friends? Or the reason why they changed the sceane in the original Star Wars where Han Solo killed Gredo in the Mos Eisley Cantina?

Default Update...

I settled on a Onkyo
http://shop3.outpost.com/product/545...H:MAIN_RSLT_PG

It was on sale for $550 which was better than ANY place I could find online...

the nice thing is it will upscale the current DVD's and when the Blu-Rays drop in price in a few years I can buy one then....since the DVD is a seperate component...
