Default Restaurant suggestions

Does anyone know a decent place in north county to eat? Im looking for something different but not rediculously expensive. I have a buddy who is getting out of the Marines and a bunch of us want to get together before he leaves. We were thinking like benihana or something but they are a little pricey. Any suggestions?

Stone, but it's also pricey.

There's Penfold's Cattle Company up here in Temecula (Old Town) that is pretty good and not unreasonable. I haven't eaten there in a while, but it was always good. Smaller place, and I think locally owned.

The Monteray Bay Canners. It's at the harbor. Prices are good and the food is tasty as well. I like it better than the Jolly Roger, 'cause the food is just as good, but a better price. Then there's the San Marcos Brewery on restaurant row, great food, good beer, good prices. For a good mom and pop joint, in Vista is Chili Coast Burgers, yummm, of course good beer, food and great price.

There's Capazolli's in Oceanside.
- I usually don't go out to eat at Italian restaurants due to my disdain for Californian "Italian" food (I'm an Italian from 'Jersey). However I was blown away by the authenticity, portion size, price, and atmosphere of this hidden gem. They're located on Mission in O'side right by the San Lois Rey mission.

I'll second Stone. It's a great place. Just wish I lived closer.

I second Capazolli's. Took the fam. there a few weeks ago for dinner, food was great, service was top-notch.
Being from New York, and the wife from Pittsburg, we too have found it quite difficult finding and eating "Italian" food out here, but this place is well worth it. Props for mentioning it bjammin

Thanks RHS. When my wife and I first started dating she wanted to take me out for some "Italian" food. She took me to the Spaghetti Factory!!! I can't believe we're still together after that.

On another note, two years ago I took her back east to meet the fam. and we went to NYC. I bought her a slice from Ray's famous and she flipped her lid. "Why does it taste so good?" I told her it was the water.

And then I took her to the Carnegie Deli...

It's all perspective.
When my roomate moved to Jersey he missed Mexican food big time.
He lamented about it to a new friend and they said 'We've got Mexican food!' and brought him to a Taco Bell.....

You could try West Steakhouse in Carlsbad, but it might be a little above your budget. The food is amazing. Also, you could try any of the Vigilucci's restaurants.

a few years ago I over heard a guy from philly saying he couldnt find a decent cheese steak out here. A guy from philly told him about this place called philly's best. He said its the best philly cheese steak you can get out here. He even went on to say that they are better than some he has had in philly.

1771C Oceanside Blvd.
Oceanside, CA 92054

I went there and I have been back many times. They have the best cheese steaks I have ever had. Ive never been to philly though.

Take the oceanside blvd exit off the 5, go east. Its right off oceanside blvd in the same shopping area as the mcdonalds.

Sir, I am going to have to correct you on this one. The best Cheese Steaks in So Cal are from a place called Frank's Philadelphia in Costa Mesa off of Wilson and Fairview. THE BEST my friend...THE BEST...THE BEST...

On another note I had a friend who now lives in Idaho and he says the crappy thing about Idaho is no good Mexican Food. He says you go to Taco Bell and it takes the white people working their 15 mins to make two been and cheese burritos.

Great Mexican place to eat in Costa Mesa is a place called Super Antiatos off of Fairview and Baker. Very authentic and cheap prices.

I've seen it, but have been reluctant to try it just because I haven't heard any feed-back one way or the other from anyone about this place. Now, I will give it a shot, maybe for lunch sometime this week, thanks for the report on this place. years ago there was a decent little Mexican joint in that spot.

Philly's best is pretty good cheese steak, nothing is like the actually thing though. I notice the mexican food thing whenever I go home, it is never as good as it is here. On the flip side I have not found any German or Polish food that comes close to being back in Cleveland.

You need to come down to Carlsbad, and give "Tip Top Meats" a visit. Not too shabby, Big John the owner runs this place, its a German Deli/eatery, breakfast and lunch...Prolly not as good as back home like most things, but damn close.

That sounds very promising, maybe a ride in the area then a trip there. Thanks for the idea.
