I don't know. How could one claim "the best" unless they've tried them all. I'm sure the place you mentioned is good but that's all relative to your experience and the standard you set for "good".

I have a good friend from Philly and he's always on the hunt for good cheesesteak places out here. Of course, none are as good as ones in Philly but we're not in Philly so the the hunt for the next best thing out here continues. We found a dive that opened a couple of years ago in Pasadena. No frills kind of place and not in the best neighborhood but man, the guy who owns and runs the joint can make a solid argument for the best cheesesteak west of the Mississippi River. It's called Fredo's Phillys and here's the no frills web site for it...

Is it the best? I have no idea but it's damn good and I've tried many.

I am closeminded and I say that Frank's Philadelphia is the best and Frodo's Philly sucks. The world is flat, and Elvis and Bruce Lee are still alive.

I guess I was being sarcastic in my previous post and to be honest Franks Phillly IMO is the best from what places I have tried here in SoCal. You have never met me and I do like to joke around and play. I think I need to for now on just say "I am joking" "I am being sarcastic"

Yeah, I totally took your comment seriously and litereally as I'm notorious among my peers to be serious 110% of the time and have no humor dna trace in my chromosomes.

My roots are Alsatian/German. I know what you mean. I miss Grandma/Mom's food.
The Jägerhouse in Anaheim is alright.
Have you ever been to the Mattern deli in Orange? Tiny little place on Chapman.
The owners are Hungarian, not Deutsch0-they make some pretty fine Old World food. GREAT house made sausage/deli meats, etc. I recommend the house brand salami, mit paprika.
They have a nice selection of import stuff and bread/pastries from various southland German bakeries.
They have Goose available at Xmas too.
If you go, grab a ticket ASAP, it's a madhouse at lunch.
This is a great after ride at the Oaks place for lunch. You can get a tasty sandwich and a cold german beer from the case for fairly cheap.
