We used to see these guys all the time when they had the road closed. They can't catch a bike unless the rider is going somewhat slow. We hit between 30 to 45 mph thru this section. I was doing 44 mph one day and a guy passed me in a turn! Later at the bottom I found out he was a pro rider. Talk about the next level. Going into a turn about as fast as I could and this guy passes me in these turns doing 50+.

Those guys do it standing up! I've seen the land lugers up there and they lay down on really long boards to do the same thing. They were up there a few weeks ago with duct-taped motorcycle leathers and steel belted radial slabs glued on their shoes for brakes. They used a car and two-way radios for traffic control. I still prefer the trail.

At work, so I can't see the video.
But, did see a couple of guys on skateboards going down this weekend--slower than me and using the whole road. However, not too steady (so I opted not to pass--was glad that I didn't when one of them wiped out in front of me at the last turn).

there are a bunch of kids that meet up at the car park by claremont and do runs... I stopped and talked to them last week. I guess usually people give them a lot of grief for various reasons... I think that ragin dh like that seems way cool. If only I had the stones to try it eh?
They offered to let me borow a board... I told em I need the beginner hill. |

Manah manah...

I was passed by two twelve year olds on luge boards in downtown Laguna Beach of all places....they rode the center of the street (ON the yellow lines)and blew through a stop sign and cornered right in front of me. I'm not normally jumpy but they scared the crap out of me...and I felt like giving them a "good talking to"...which made me feel old, like I'd lose my dentures and use the word whipper snapper or something...

That was great! two things.. I enjoyed watching that guy's form which was reminiscent of time trialists and downhill skiers. Looked like a pure athlete. Second was the fact that there was no annoying music. Refreshing.

I did Rosarito Ensenada once and a guy passed me on a long downhill wearing rollerblades and a speedo. Nothing else at all.I said,"Hey! your'e doing 30" and he said "cool" and passed me and was gone.
