OK last night I got a free ticket to go see the Social D and I must say the show was actually pretty good. Mike Ness changed things up a bit and actually played some of his songs in a country type of way. It was also different due to the fact that he played some music from his solo records. I personally really do like his solo music, kinda more of a a rockabilly tone. It was refreshing to here his old music like Drug Train, 1945, and my personal favorite Mommy's little monster.
OK here is the bad thing about the concert. Social D is like 30 years old and it was cool to see some 40 to 50 year old people at the concert but these older people have to chill out a bit. I mean they are at a general admission concert where it was hot and younger kids are having a good time well these older people need to stay home because I saw two fights and it was with people in the 40 and 50s that may have forgotten what it was like to go to small venue general admission concerts and thier patience is a little thin. My point is this older people if you can't handle close quarter small venue general admission concerts stay home in South OC and stick to watching concerts at the Lake Mission Viejo. This was my concert review for the week.

You know what I mean!!! Hell I would live in the South OC if I had kids. Better schools and closer to the trails. Beside San Clemente is WAY different than the typical south OC.

I saw Social D. play with The Jesus & Mary Chain in the mid-80s at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium. Social D. was the opening act and they were on fire! The Mary Chain sucked (they walked off stage during their first song because they were too drunk).

That's what we do.
Aren't you supposed to fight at a concert? Best one was a Chuck Berry concert at UCI. We ended up with over 20 people in jail. They dropped the charges and we all went home to continue the party. One guy hadn't even been out of jail 24 hours. Awwww, the good ol days!

Wow, Mike, you just totally aged yourself. Most here probably wouldn't even know who Chuck Berry is. ![]() ![]() I bet that was a great show, minus the getting arrested part. That ol' guy can play a mean guitar! We saw Social D last month @ HOB on Sunset. Same kind of deal; the young and not so young. Kids starting slammiing and the old fo' went in the back and let them have at it. Too old for that shiat but fun to see, never the less.

Saw Social Distortion back in the mid 80's as well. They were one of several bands that opened for Public Image Ltd. in '84, the year L.A. hosted the Summer Olympics (notice the arrangement of the PiL logos?). A girlfriend at the time worked at Rhino Records in Riverside and swiped this poster for me. It’s been on many a wall since 1984, though has been packed away with some other old goodies for several years now.
Thread got me all nostalgic, so thought I’d dig it out for a quick pic. Saw them again last year at the HOB. I’ve been a fan for 25 years, but had only seen them one other time since the ’84 show. Their catalog was much smaller then, and appealed more to my hardcore sensibilities at the time. Ness still rocks hard though, and knows how to get a crowd going. His arm was busted so there was a stand-in on guitar, but the voice sounded as good as ever. This geezer spent most of the show in the pit, too, and didn’t try to start even one fight! Then again, I’m not from so. county. I hear those coots are nothing but trouble. Stick to golf, ya rabble rousers! ![]()

I've ripped lots of old vinyl to mp3, but haven't been thrilled with the result. If you have a good solution, I'd love to hear it.
