Default Anyone Been to Vietnam?

My wife and I are starting to plan for our big annual international trip for May or June. We are looking at South Africa, Vietnam, and India right now. Vietnam is the highest on my list because South Africa is just so expensive to get too (and takes forever to get there). I really want to see Angkor Watt in Cambodia too.

they have bike tours in Vietnam. It's quiet the beautiful country from what i've been told. I was only 5 when we fled the country but everyone that's been there says it's rivals some of the best resorts in terms of beauty.

Plus the food aint all that bad

Someone posted pics of their Vietnam bike tour recently...found it http://www.socaltrailriders.org/foru...2&postcount=15

My friend Walter was in Nam. He watched his buddies die face-down in the mud in places like Khe Sanh, Langdok, Hill 364...

I'm sorry to hear about your friend's loss.

However are you suggesting I don't go to Vietnam because of the Vietnam War (which is called the American War amongst other names over there). That's like not going France or Germany beacuse my grandfather die in WWII.

It's a totally different place now.

Not at all. Here's a picture of us at the bowling alley:

I do have a friend that visits often because he has a friend who lives there. The pictures he comes back with are incredible. That place looks awesome.

I had three brothers there in the 60's. Only one came back normal. I lost one and the other one freaks out if he even sees rice. All that aside, I would go there for a bike tour if given the opportunity!

I think it was a joke I would have not posted on here, thats brave. When I am hanging with my buddies we all the time do Nam stories.

I was on the Ho chi min trail with just two bullets left in my magazine and a knife. I was doing some black ops stuff for the CIA and my buddy got hit and I carried him out on my back. Once we came across a NVA company and I had to gut a water buffalo and hide inside the water buffalo with my buddy so we would not get detected by Charlie.

Thats how you do a Nam story!!!

Default There is

This kid on my son’s Rugby team and his dad is a Nam whacko. Suuuuuper nice guy but just not all there if you know what I mean.

Their rugby team (12 players) was facing a team from San Diego (33 players) on a 10 on 10 game. He looked at me and said………"This reminds me of Nam when Charlie had us out numbered 3 to 1"

I just and then walked away

Too funny!!!! wow he was like that for a kids game just wait until the kids get older and the compitition get more crazy fists and boot stomping all over the pitch (pitch = field, Boots = Cleats).

My buddy works for the US post office and they hire all the old Nam vets. He says that the Nam mailmen hold the mail bags like they are back carrying their old M-16
