If the riddle is a question of the girls being "on the bus" vs. how many legs are "in the bus", then the answer is zero.

If it's a question of how many legs, it's 10,990. Do the math backwards.

Than again, it could be 10,976, if the girls are "on" the bus, and the bags with the cats are "in" the bus.

what about the big cats legs?

7 girls with 7 backpacks= 14 legs + 49 backpacks

49 backpacks with 7 big cats each= 343 big cats with 1372 legs
