Default Internet connection Problems

I live in Fullerton and use time Warner. Every 30 mins or so the server is lost and then 5 mins later everything is fine. My son has been playing games on the cpu but I dont think that is a prob.I have not called Time Warner yet but will in the morn.Anybody else having this problem?

I know the problem....It's F-ing Time Warner. The worst ISP known to man, next to AOL.

Serisously, sounds like your cable modem is losing sync. Power cycle the router and modem. If you still lose signal, it's most likely Time Warner.

We've got TW. It's been out 1-2 times. Cox is the best. I liked Comcast, but when they merged we lost them and had to suffer with TW. We almost went with Verizon, but they screwed us over so much in sign up that we never followed through.

Also be sure to log every time it goes down and for how long. If you have to suffer through an hour+ on hold you might as well get some of your money back (which they will give you as credit if you keep a record).

I might try that. My cable always goes from color to black and white. Then out of the blue, what ever channel I am watching just goes blank and comes back on at times.

I live in Fullerton and have always experienced this intermittently. It seemed worse with Adelphia. Also seems to be worse during peak hours (evening). Being that it is cable you are sharing with all your neighbors who are connected to the same line so the speed can vary. At least thats what the disclaimer says so they don't have to honor their advertised speeds. I guess all my neighbors download their porn at the same time

I also noticed that downloading demos from XBOX live will guaranteed kill my connection forcing me to recycle my modem and router. Playing on LIVE though does not. Weird.

im not sure if you can switch cable operators as they typically sign franchise agreements to be exclusive cable provider to the area. Your best avenue would be to document and get credited for the outage. But if it becomes persistent and you cant take it anymore, cancel and go DSL? are you in a verizon service area? you might want to look into their FIOS data service it's seem promising w/ the speed

We have TW and we have intermittent connectivity issues too. My suggestion is to get a subscription to Dirt Rag, or read a book or something. Otherwise you can drop 40 bucks a month on wireless or even more for T1.

I've done this and it works. They kiss your a$$ and drop the charges off your bill.

No can do. DSL is much slower. All you can do is suck it up.

TW has much better HD channel selection than Cox.

true brian i wouldnt go to DSL but if he's getting consistent interruptions that would drive me nuts!

There was talks of some company making a router that would take a PC card wireless EVDO card from verizon/sprint so you could actually share your wireless broadband connection. that would be hot

It has been constant for the last say 2.5 weeks. Very frustrating.

if your neighbors are subs have them call too...there could be a hardware problem down from you that just needs enough people complaining for their lazy ass to get a tech out

Very true. Squeak like the grease-hungry wheel you are.

In the past, if I had probs, I would steal the neighbors' connections to check the server status.

I live in fullerton (near fullerton loop) and don't have an ounce of problems with my time warner connection. Unfortunatly Cox is not an option here in this city. I don't think it's your connection from time warners end, but possible at your place either you modem, your computer, or the line in your house.

time warner sucks big time, but there isn't much we can do other than go to DSL and use satelite for cable.

could be a node down the street...we're lucky we live RIGHT next to a node so our speeds are pretty good AND we have a natural gas backup generator that kicks in as soon as power dumps i hart my cable company
