Default Such is the life

I'm at work at BB. It's raining and nobody wants to brave the weather, so far. It's 10:45 and the phones have only rang 3 times.

I rode laps around the shop on a Baby Blue Intense 5.5 for over an hour. I had a pretty sweet loop going, then realized I just put about 100 carpet miles on a new bike. I felt guilty and put the bike back on the rack.

Now I'm sitting here, surfing STR and watching ROAM on the flat screen. It's the bad @$$ Sun Valley Idaho singletrack segment with Steve Peat and Andrew Shandro. So I'm digging the music and wishing it wasn't raining so I could ride my bike when I get off work. I shouldn't be watching ROAM on a rainy day. At least I can vibe to it while I'm doing time.

I want to buy the Turner Sultan hanging on the wall. It's in my size but I don't fancy a divorce today.

Now ROAM is at the section in Morocco (I think) where the music is even more chill. I wonder why it is that the sweet Crank Bros Mallet M's are calling to me so much when I'm not totally down with riding clipless yet.

Maybe I need to buy some new bike bling. Maybe some Dangerboy levers for my 29er. Ya, that's it. That'll be sweet.

I just got around to installing the new Niner 20t ring on my SS yesterday. My rear hub was getting ready to go south so I got it serviced just in time. It's nice having friends who are mechanics.

I wish I could carve singletrack like Steve Peat. Now it's at the part where the kids are chasing the riders down the hillside. That's pretty cool. The only thing that chases me is fatigue.

I really want to go ride my bike.

I just watched it. I have to recommend against it. It will only make it worse.

I'm now thinking about how far I would have to drive to get away from the rain. Can I get to Santa Cruz before dusk? Is it raining up there too?

Same here, got a baby blue 5.5 in the garage that is angrily staring down the new Zion SS frame, and it's raining. Me and the man-child are heading to The Path and REI for some shopping err, quality time.

My ever perceptive wife correctly diagnosed my crappy mood this morning. I thought it might have been workload, bills, undone chores, and a myriad of other downers, but she knew it was the CANCELED BIKE RIDE! She also sometimes knows before I do when I have a migraine coming (contributing factor: NOT ENOUGH BIKE RIDING!). She doesn't ride, but is glad that I do it regularly, since it makes me happy and healthy.

My wife asked if we were all converging on BB today.

Maybe we should...

Or not. We are in a heated track standing competition and don't need to be bothered by you pesky customers. It's raining outside. Any sensible person would stay inside where it's warm and dry.

We're closed. The doors are locked and the lights are off.

On second thought, how about one of you comes down and brings me lunch?

Hitting BB sounds good! but I can't make it today. Wife just took my vehicle to SD, daughter home from college took hers, other daughter borrowed wife's half-wrecked car, & my 65 jeep Gladiator is stripped for painting...a friend's picking me up shortly for coffee.

Two things:
Is there a "best MTB DVD" thread? Couldn't find it...if PacMan gets tired of laps he can pop in the newest DVD for you guys!

Obviously need another car -- I'm thinking older Jetta TDI diesel for commute. Hard to find, crap-shoot VW reliability, but drive great & get 40-50mpg.
