Trying to cut out artificial additives in my diet in an attempt of being healthier but I have a small dilemma.
Like many, I love coffee but just in the morning. I usually brew my own (Peet's, of course) and have a 1-2 cups before my day gets going. I can't drink it black and need it cream-aided. Over the years, I've experimented with lots of different options with the latest one for the last few months being a "Sugar Free French Vanilla" made by "International Delight". It's not fat free but is sugar free, Sweetened with Splenda. Aside from drinking black, how do most sweeten their morning coffee? Here's the break down for the International Delight sweetener, how bad is this really? 1 serving = 1 tbsp (I probably use 6 times that) Calories = 20 (15 Fat calories) Total Fat =2g Saturated Fat = 1g Trans Fat = 0g Cholesterol = 0mg Sodium = 0mg Total Carb = 1mg Dietery Fiber = 0g Sugars = 0g Protein = 0g http://www.internationaldelight.com/french_vanilla.php

I use fat free powdered coffeemate. You can also use powdered milk or soy milk.

Seriously, learn to drink it black. You get the true flavor of the coffee without all the crap.

For a sweetener you can use stevia extract
http://reid_j.tripod.com/stevia.htm http://www.naturesflavors.com/produc...oducts_id=4061 And a non dairy soy based creamer. Comes in different flavors http://www.naturesflavors.com/produc...oducts_id=4647 Stuff isn't cheap, but doesn't have all the weird additives of commercially available supermarket brands. |

Call me slow but I have no idea what this means. (The news just said the San Gabs are expecting up to 10" of rain this weekend. Holy Shiat!!)

have you tried black tea with a wee bit of milk (low fat)? the caffeine in the tea will perk you up and with the limited milk to make it a bit sweeter/smoother, it could work. i've been doing it for years and it works for me. better than my old diet coke for breakfast!

That is my routine exactly, including the same brand of creamer. I've tried other options, but just decided that life is too short to sweat small stuff like this. 50-100 calories a day for a more enjoyable cup (or two) of coffee is trivial as far as dietary vices are concerned. R |
