I seem to enjoy tea more than coffee. I know there are different roasts/blends/etc of coffee but with tea you get so many more distinct & different flavors.

I'll have a foo foo (latte) coffee every now and then, but you're really missing out on the REAL flavors when you add to the straight up coffee.

![]() Seriously folks this is getting to be a bit much. I prefer my coffee good, strong and black. When I am faced with swill I will sweeten it with sugar and milk. Hell, I smoke, drink, crash mountain bikes, have a teenage daughter, a redhead for a wife and commute to work on a bike. Counting calories is the least of my worries |

Now why on earth would I feel the need to join the Peetnik culture club just to get a sense of belonging? Peet's is 1.5 miles away from the house & I prefer to pick-up my coffee fresh, not shipped. I hit Peet's usually once every 10-14 days for a pound of coffee, usually either Ethiopian Fancy, Major Dickasons, The Blend 101 or sometimes Kona. Last two trips I've scored the Holiday blend and it's been just kick-ass. I've yet to understand why people are so addicted to Starsucks coffee. Their coffee tastes burned and down right awful. I would honestly prefer McD's coffee over Starsucks, which isn't half bad.
Now, what were you saying, Ronnie? ![]()

IMO "whorebuck$" coffee is the worst! It seems as if they are grinding it too fine or using waaay too much when they brew. It is always too acidic and "burned" tasting. I have yet to experience Peets but have been regularly enjoying Newhall Coffee Roasters Newhall Blend. Always ground coarse with my Black and Decker burr grinder and brewed in my Black and Decker coffee maker. Most importantly ALWAYS drank BLACK! http://www.newhallcoffee.com/ |

I was drinking a venti mocha at least 3x's per week from Starbucks and I would occasionally brew coffee at home and add Coffemate, but after reading this post I've decided to go with straight coffee only and it's not too bad. I had McD's this morning and I think I can get used to this although I still might have an occasional foo-foo coffee if I really get a craving.

It's pretty interesting.
http://www.coffeefool.com/?Click=12055 I haven't ordered coffee from them yet, but I did ask the gal at the local Peet's how long it takes them to get their coffee on the shelf after roastings. They get their store orders within a couple of days of roastings. Which says REAL FRESH to me! Here's another favorite of mine; http://www.badasscoffee.com/ I'm drinking the Volcanic Roast as we speak. It's a 10% Hawiian blend, and it's pretty darn good!

What's wrong with some basic milk in your coffee instead of sketchy creamers, sweeteners and the like?
I've switched lately from having coffee to having breakfast teas (English, Irish, black teas) because they're easier on the system, and healthier for you. And just to make sure I get my full caffeine fix, I make an espresso too, which is good with sugar only, and doesn't require milk. Breakfast tea (Twinnings is best) with espresso on the side. That's how I roll. Oh, on sweeteners...I used to use Splenda as a way to cut out calories but I recently decided that's silly because Splenda is expensive and might cause cancer or something else down the line. Why risk it. That's the problem with cancer is that it's very very hard for people or organization to prove a cancer originated from a particular chemical or compound. There's plenty of stuff in our environment already that might cause cancer but it's not banned because it's too hard to prove a link. |
