well, this will make the 29er freaks over on emptybeer happy. anyone else see the silliness over there re: 29er cranks, 29er gear ratios, etc?

I think most of it is a joke. But, you can easily find a need for different gearing (i.e. front chain ring) for 29ers because of the bigger wheels. I'm not super strong, but I'd have a hell of a time trying to ride 1x9 with a 32T. Justin does it.

That is why a buy compact square taper cranksets. Getting harder to find, the exception is Middleburn. Old Turbine and XTR Cranks are getting top $ on e-bay.

You can basically only get Middleburn from Chain Reaction also. So, that isn't really easy to acquire either. I got mine from there. Pricey, but worth it IMO.

wow. i guess i really missed out on the whole gearing issue, having my first 29er be a ss I just adjusted it a bit and ran it (33:21 instead of 34:20 on the 26er ss).

spending over two years exclusively on either of the single speeds before building up the gearie 29er seven made me not even think about gearing choice- I just went with what was available- hell, I'm even running a 11-32 cassette.

I have a pair of Serfas glasses. I love them except they scratch to easy. If you know that from the beginning you'll know they should always be returned to the case when not in use. I put them in the back of my Camelback and ruined one set of lens. But they are really nice and I highly recommend them.

They have great customer service, though. And are local to So Cal.

Does anyone make 650b sunglasses?

I think the 9er glasses might be too big for me.

be aware- you'll see more "what "X" should I buy?" threads than you'll want to, especially on the 29er bored.
