I would guess because its smaller poop and the coyote wasn't brought in from a stable across town in a trailer to traverse the trail and then leave.
![]() That is why dog owners are asked to pickup after there pets. Asking the same of horse owners makes sense but I don't think its feasible. If it was I would love to see that poop a scooper. ![]() |

I see more GU wrappers on the trail then I do horse poop....horse poop blows away after it dries up and turns back into grass anyway...unlike dog poop....I personally have to say that if I had to choose which one I got in my tire..horse or dog...I would choose horse poop...and not just because I am prejudice.
As far as the trailered horses leaving a pile of poop and wood shavings where they park....I agree...they need to pick it up...I carry a broom and dust pan to clean up when I park anywhere with my horses. |

Please say you are joking.

It takes a while and a few biological steps before horse poop becomes grass. Sure it dries up, but before that it is a steaming pile of slop on the trails. Come ride CHSP with me sometime. I rarely see Gu wrappers out there (and I pick them up if I do), but you can seem many fresh piles of horse poop. It ain't right. I thought there were bags you could put under a horse's ass to catch their poop? Maybe they only do this in NYC's central park since poop is not welcome there.

Well, I think the major difference is that the coyotes are in their natural habitat whereas horses are brought in for people's enjoyment. If I have to pick up my dog's poop, then equestrians should pick up their horse's poop, imo.

Yeah, but the horse that just shat on the trails is someone's pet (and responsibility), not a wild animal. Nice try.

I understand you are an equestrian and we all appreciate your bias towards horses , but ANY animal's body waste is disgusting and full of bacteria and disease. Defending it just doesn't make any sense.Santa Rosa Plateau in Murrieta is basically unridable because of all the horse dropping everywhere.

I thought that the horses were imported by the Spanish, and there weren't actually any wild horses. There are however a few places in the US that there are wild horses, although not origionally found inthe continental US, but they don't do anything for the environmentment other than help sustain vegetation spread.

at least sweep it off the trail to the sides, or train the horses to either a.) kick their poop to the side so the rider doesn't have to dismount. b.) have the horse consume its poop to later be pooped out at their ranch.
like some of you said...it may be beneficiary to the environment (there are pros and cons) but whatever reason it isn't doing any good right in the middle of a trail or in the parking lots.

I actually ride mnt bikes more then horses but I have to honestly say the poop on the trail has never been an issue to me...I must be the lucky one that doesn't have a lot of horses on the trails I ride...sounds like Chino Hills has a big issue there...I agree that riding through any kind of popps sucks so I simply do my best to ride around it just like I ride around mud when I can. ..next thing you know we are gonna be asking to remove rocks from the trail cuz they cause flats and gashes in our bodies when we land on them...but wait then we could blame the horse poop again for our infection we get in our open wound from the rock we fell on. Someone needs to invent the catch bag for my horses poop...make it a law that I have to pick up after it and then you will see me out there with one on my horse...

With all the chatter about all the equine excrement on the trails, it reminds me of a book I saw that helps our little Floor Frogs with the poo-poo in the potty adventure
Everybody Poops.gif.jpg Agreed, everybody poops, but not everybody leaves it laying around for me to step in or ride through |
