Default Dog owners. I was just bit

So i went to get some food on my bike, I walk out of the store to find a dog latched on my arm. My point is, if you have a dog that bites, leave it home.

Did you return the favor to the dog or its owner? A swift kick to the face works well...to the dog's owner, that is.

That's nasty. I hope you've had your rabbies shot.

You really need to (or needed to) notify the authorities about that dog. You're probably not the dog's first victim, and surely not the last, if that dog is allowed to run free.

I said something to the owner, I don't fault the dog but the owner for taking the dog in public. If the owner decides not to follow up on any medical bills then I will pursue further. My whole arm is now swollen and sore!

I went to jack in the box. Walked out the door and the dogs were tied to the railing. I went to get on my bike by the railing and the dog jumped and latched on. This just happened at about 11:30

My GF was bitten fairly severely (lots of stitches and gaping hole) by a labrador during a road ride in Riverside. The dog has been DOCUMENTED to have bitten before. Even with all of the evidence proving the dog is a major threat to the community, animal control never followed through with euathanizing the dog. In fact, they never even made it to the house despite much prodding from my GF. I am a hopeless dog lover but when dogs reach the mindstate that they begin to attack people with no provocation, I think they should be put down. Sorry to take the thread off topic but I just thought I would share the experience.

Heal fast.

Man, that looks terrible. I am sorry to hear of this.

The reckless behavior of some dog owners is unacceptable. I have a neighbor who is always letting his dog out roaming the streets. Once it ran up to me and started barking at me getting ready to attack, I punched it in self-defense, and it whimpered and backed off. But, if it was a bigger dog that could have posed a threat, I may have suffered serious injuries.

I love dogs and have had many since I was in elementary school, but I think putting people at risk of physical harm out of negligent behavior is just intolerable.

Seriously, keep your eye on that and make sure it doesn't get infected. If it doesn't start to look better very soon, a trip to the dr. is in order and some antibiotics.

I had a bull mastiff chase me once when I was on my mt. bike (riding it on the road). Those were some of the scariest seconds of my life. He wasn't tied up and left the yard to chase after me. I called the cops on the way back and they came out to talk to the owner (I was living in suburban New England at the time and trust me, the cops didn't have much better to do).

I have zero tolerance for dogs that bite. People's safety is far more important. Imagine if that dog had bitten a 4 year old child instead of you? The injuries could have been much more severe. IMHO, dogs that bite need to be put to sleep asap. Good luck and hope you heal up fast. And DO go after the owner to recover your expenses.

Definitely get to the doctor right away and get a tetanus shot, and get on antibiotics of some sort - It's going to get infected otherwise...

I remeber talking about this while on a ride with someone your dog gets like 3 or 4 bits before any real action comes towards it the responability comes on the owner and they can be sued everytime the dog bites. My best friend had a dalmation that bit a bunch of people.

Dude .. that really blows. Some dog owners are ridicuously irresponsible.

Might be time to place a call to Larry H. Parker...

Dude, that's not at all good. Although it would be the prudent course of action, I understand why you wouldn't want go to the doctor on Christmas Eve.

However, you should DEFINITELY douche that thing out with whatever antiseptic you can find. Do it until it hurts bad. Then put a topical antibiotic on it and start pounding down oral antibiotics for the next week... and never heed medical advice from some fool in the internet.

If it gets worse and you don't see a doctor, you're tempting fate.

The scar will be cool and chicks will dig it, but if it gets seriously infected, it could adversely affect your riding. That, my good man, would be a tragedy.

As an added preventive measure, you'd better consume large quantities of alcohol and have a spectacular holiday.
