Default Zune blows

After 1.5 hours of trouble shooting with phone support they finally gave in and offered to fix it or swap it for free. What's funny, my old ipod still runs like a champ. Go figure that they make me jump through hoops when I tried the samething if not more to make that piece of Microsoft crap work. I'm so glad I didn't pay for it.

So you are one of the 3 people who bought a Zune. You are more rare than the giant panda. I am honored to know you.

It's microsoft, did you actually expect it to work properly?

Lemme guess, your "tech support" agent was some guy reading a manual verbatim from some third world country that has never even used a zune before in his life, right? Gotta love outsourcing.

I just stick with Archos and Creative, even though Creative's customer service is basically nonexistant. I would go ipod but I can't stand itunes.

The ipod is a good piece of hardware. Hate the software and licensing crap they have (itunes).

iPod - when you take away all the over-hyped marketing, you're left with a product that just works. Simple as that.

actually you are left with something that works that has a TON of third party support, from skins to software that replaces Itunes, there is no MP3 player that has sooo much support.

Yes, you can add Dell, HP, and just about every company out there that out sources and has some fool reading a phone script.

Why do you think you can find the Zune's for 100.00 bones?

I'm pretty happy with my Sansa. I don't need any software for it to work on any computer. It's essentially a usb storage device. It plays several formats. It was cheap.

-Cause I needed a fancy paper weight
-something to keep the table from tipping
-I don't like rings on my coffee table so a Zune coaster would do
-My front door is held open with a Zune doorstop
-If I ran out of toilet paper, I reach for the Zune

Fluck! The saleslady talked me into it. A guy at work got one and told me it was way better then his Ipod, so I thought my son would like it and then I could have my Ipod back. Now I read this!!! BTW, I paid like 234.00 tax included for the 8GB. I guess he'll have to return it and get an Ipod when they get more in.

I'm a cowon iaudio7 user myself.... not locked down into any particular file format (plays ogg, wmv, flac, mp3, aac, etc) or any particular store or software. Works on linux, mac or pc, has a better feature set with way more flexibility than any apple product, radio, line-in recording, voice recording, some of the top-rated sound quality available, parametric EQ, and a 60 hr battery life. That's two weeks of riding (for me) without a recharge.

Yeah, I know I'm a closet geek, and I love to tinker. I believe in open source and products that work with open source, and aren't locked down by DRM or tied to a proprietary piece of software that controls my music and what I can do with it. I like to be in control and do things manually.

Which is not to diss on the Ipod or Zune... both have their place and their fans, I'm just not one of them.
