Default Cars and Coffee

I used to work for Mazda (off the 5 freeway by the Irvine Spectrum) a few years ago. They still host an event called Cars and Coffee every Saturday morning at the parking lot across the street from Mazda on Irvine Center Drive. It's between 6am to about 11am. Most of the really nice cars show up between 6am and 9am and leave. All range of cars go there, domestics, exotics, classics, and some odd ball ones (no ricers here). Many are total garage queens but the few times I went a Buggati Veyron pretty much eclipsed everyone. It's a free event and some decent car talk. I'll probably be there with my GF's kids since they have never experienced anything like it. Careful where you park because the Irvine PD will be out there looking to generate some cash and bust the morons that do burn outs in the street.

This Saturday is also the Mooneyes annual X-mas party. It's at the Irwindale Speedway. Customs are a lot more fun to oogle over than stock cars in my opinion. Plus they have drag racing and lots of cool junk!

That Veyron belongs to a guy who owns his own business on the street where I work. He drives it all the time and I've never seen the guy nail it. He goes down the 405 bang on 65mph. I'd be ripped up the streets like a total nut-bag if I owned that thing! Probably best I dont then eh.

Where I come from we share cars and make pretend ones from oak trees and old soap box racers. Can I have some of your $$ please Mr. USA?!

Irwindale Speedway also has street legal drags every thursday night ( not sure if they still shut down for the "rainy" season ) If you've never done it , you should give it a try sometime --- it's a total BLAST ! I don't have the motivation or $$$ to keep up anymore , but it's fun to get out there every once in awhile .
I also used to do the cruise ins and car show thing , but I just can't get interested in the same old primered Chevy junk , or billet street rods ( 350 / 350 / 9 inch ) . I mean really , how many red rustangs or big block chevelles can you be interested in ?
The Donut Derelicks in HB/FV ( magnolia & adams ) used to be a BIG saturday morning thing . The entire lot would be full by 6:00am . Some of the auto manufactures were know to bring prototype / concept cars out there to get feedback .
