Preach on brotha!!! Double Dog is amazing!!! I talked to one of the guys at the local Bevmo and he said he was going try and get some. Also the 2007 Alaskan Smoked Porters are out at Bevmo, not sure if the 07 is as good as the 06 but there is only one way to find out!!

I would talk to him about the latest bike component that I purchased and he'd talk about the latest investment in brewing equipment.
New Glarus is top notch.

Well, I didn't follow directions very well. My last client of the day was near a BevMo, so I just swung by and picked up some Belgian's that I haven't tried yet.

Which one should I start with?

Suggestions for the next round?

You're absolutly right Endo, however light beers are so bad(as well as regular beer,i.e.Bud,Coors etc.),that the people that pound down so many of these beers can't do anything else!Last season my wife was given tickets to an Angel game courtesy of her boss.Unfortunately they were in the view section, where they don't serve craft brews. So on a whim,I bought a Michalob.I took three sips, gagged and gave it to the guy next to me.He was happier then a Boston Red Sux fan sitting behind a pole in Fenway park.I snuck down to the club level to pick up a Sierra Nevada, and finally was able to enjoy the game.

That's a nice haul Katonk. Not sure what you drank last night, but I would drink them in this order:

1) Maredsous Tripel
2) Rochefort 8
3) Westmalle Dubbel
4) Delerium Nocturnum
5) Lindeman's Framboise

Save the Curieux for a night of it's own. That's a fantastic beer that pairs well with roasted dark meats like lamb or beef tri tip. Plus at around $13 a bottle, you want to make sure you remember it. I love Curieux but I am too cheap to buy it regularly.

Here's what I would do. (multiple days perhaps to be able to savor the flavor.
1) Rochefort 8
2) Westmalle Dubbel
3) Delerium Nocturnum
4) Maredsous Tripel (I prefer the double myself...on tap up the street!)
5) Lindeman's Framboise-for dessert over some high quality ice-cream or mixed with a white ale or chocolate stout
Agree with BrewMaster about the Curieux

My beer store had a sixer of the 2006 version of this beer so I picked it up. I can definitely taste the vanilla in my aftertaste! I think the '07 version is a much better, bigger tasting winter ale, not sure I would buy the '06 again but will definitely get the '07 soon.

Where do you all live that you have places that serve such elegant beers? my local brewery has great pornstar scenery but the beer truely sucks.

not just a matter of where we live, rather where we'd go to get get such "elegant beers". I'm lucky to have a few local pubs with great beer and drive by a couple good places to procure great brew on my way home from work. Then whenever out and about, I know other places to stop. A BevMo just opened up in Long Beach about a month ago...spent some $$ there and very happy except for one beer.....Hoppy Brewing Company's "Hoppy Holidaze"....did not work for me.

2w4s: What exactly is good pornstar scenery? There's a number of way to interpret that.

xhusker: Where are you finding Maredsous on tap? I have to say that I've not been impressed by anything from Hoppy Brewing that I've tried.

So far I've tried:
Maredsous Tripel - Winner!
Rochefort 8 - Meh. This beer is rated high all over the place, but I just didn't get much of an aroma, or the "bouquet" of flavor I was expecting. Bad batch maybe?
Westmalle Dubbel - Pretty good. It grew on me, but a little pricey for what it is.

Of coarse I'm not offended!

Maybe I'm just too old or too married-with-kids to get it?

Anyways, the Delerium Nocturnum does in fact live up to the hype. Thanks to those who recommended it. I can also confirm that is an excellent post-ride brew.

Enjoy!
had some- we hit up a place that has over 1,000 beers in stock and a bar as well- it's like a market/restaurant but only for beer. something-port?
