The only chili beer I like, which I am not sure even qualifies as a chilli beer since it doesn't have a whole chili floating in it, is Rogue Chipotle Ale. It's nice and smokey and goes well with BBQ.

Amen on the hatred of SA Cranberry Lambic. Putting fruit in beer does not make it a lambic.

I had this last night, pretty darn tasty! The bottle doesn't show it but it's a darker, full body ale.

Just as vanilla as usual? I've always like winter solstice because if that vanilla character, different than most other winter beers but really good to me...

Had a Petrus Oud Bruin last night for the first time in a few years. Well, that and split a couple Westmalle's too, a dubbel and a trippel...mmm...

wow, you're taste buds are more refined than mine, I didn't notice so much vanilla, but it's my favorite winter brew so far. I guess I'll have to experiment tonight to see if I can detect any vanilla.

I love Anderson Valley, so much so that we served their Poleeko Gold Pale Ale at our wedding (that's a big deal to me, as you might guess). However, the Brother David's Double and Triple are a waste of time in my opinion. The bottles are pretty, but the beer inside is second rate. Don't waste your time if you ask me.

I've always preferred their Summer Solstice over Winter Solstice. I only have their Winter Solstice once each year or so and that's enough for me.

I really need to have some Petrus Oud Bruin soon. I don't remember the last time I tasted that. Got any extras?

I actually had it at BJ's. They hadn't carried it for years since they really trimmed back their bottle selection, and then last night was talking to the bartender and found out they have it again! Needless to say, i was stoked...

Dear lord, that IS a terrible beer. It's a beer that could only be designed by committee. Was there a moment when their bremaster said, "wow that's great. I want the whole world to know I made this."?

I gotta be honest with you. I was actually afraid to try that beer. So far Rogue has a pretty good track record, and I didn't want their record to tarnished with a nasty "gimmick" beer.

On the other hand, Rogue Morimoto Soba sounds like a gimmick too, and it's a great dinner beer. Since the Chipotle Ale has your seal of approval, I'll check it out.

Double Trouble Abbey Ale

I don't drink much beer anymore and my tastes have changed over the years. I generally favor Weiss beers now and my favorite is Hackr Pschor (not sure of that spelling). It's hard to find and when you ask someone at a liquor store or bar if they have it they think you are trying to clear your throat when you pronounce it. Tyhe local San Diego brewery, Karl Strauss?, makes a good Weiss beer.

I used to live int e Midwest and there was local brand from Wisconsin called Spotted Cow that was very good.

On another beer related note, those "Dude" commercials are fantastic. Even as my tatstes change to where I don't care for beer as much as when I was younger I can still count on Beer makers to provide me with the best commercials on the planet.

Correcting myself here, the brand was called New Glarus and one of their product lines was Spotted Cow. One of my old riding friends back in the Midwest recommended it to me. He was a home brew guy and after I moved out here he stopped riding and started brewing enough for the small size kegs at home, LOL. I would talk to him about the latest bike component that I purchased and he'd talk about the latest investment in brewing equipment.
