Default SOLD!!! non-mtb_200 Gallon Fish Tank

My friend is selling her tank, it is empty but it is a 200 gallon tank, she has nearly 2 grand put into it and is now asking $300. If you are interested, drop me a line and I'll get you more details and pix eventually.

A little more info from her:

There is no filtration system. I do have some nice compact lighting though. The tank has a stand and hood. The entire tank itself is brand new never held water. The tank is glass not acrylic. It is super heavy and unless set on a slab the floor will need to be reinforced underneath it. Unfortunately I could not make good on the mermaid promise that whole thing fell through : (

couple crappy pix she snapped:

I may be interested but I have a question:

Will it hold an average sized mermaid?

I just had a gazillion cichlid babies. I have been advertising to get rid of them but I haven't found a taker. Anyone interested. I think there are 40 or so less than 1 inch bumble bee's.

True it can be, I have an 80 gallon saltwater tank but I only paid $250 for EVERYTHING including the fish and a Fluval 404. Just the food that is expensive.

Well you were running coral, I've just got fish only. I'm not even thinking about running coral cause that is where it gets really expensive

Too funny. Every time I hear someone say "you can do a reef on the cheap", I think back to how I got pulled in. Something to the effect of, "you don't need filters, sumps, etc. Just a decent pump and some live rock and do your water changes. A second tank later, Skimmer, Aqua Controler, misc pumps, ocean Motion, hallides, etc. and I had the tank/hardware I wanted. Now I'm still paying for power and corals when the $$$ is there.

That's from when I first moved everything to my 60g cube back in February. I'll have to try and take some better pics sometime

To get this thread back on track. While most people think it's better to start with a small setup, that 200 gal setup has a very nice benefit of offering much more stable water parameters. That combined with the fact that you probably won't go bigger in the immediate future would save some $$$. The other plus is that since it isn't drilled for a specific setup, it is a "blank canvas" and you have more setup flexibility/options.

As far as a price, a glass tank that size costs a LOT of money. As far as the furniture, I used select pine (still about half the price of oak, but with better grain than std pine) on my 60 gallon stand and had a $200 lumber bill. The stand and canopy being included is nice because even if you don't like the stain, you can usually sand it down and refinish it for pennies compared to building your own or buying a new one.

On rainy days, or at night when you're home and winding down the day, a nicely setup tank can be entertaining and satisfying on many levels. Oh yeah, and chicks dig em...

At least my 2yr old girl does

Good luck with the sale,
Chris

on a side note... I have 40 baby bumblebee cichlids I need to get rid of as of yesterday. Most of them are about an inch long. Born about a month ago. Any takers? You can probably make some money with them. Just think, free fish for the new tank your buying.
