Wow, lots of great stuff here. I like the fact that Chumba is local and a good shop that sells it is local also.
Many people suggested trying a bunch of bikes. It is easy for expert riders to say this but in reality it is very difficult and time consuming to do this. The demo bikes won't have the exact same components I want and it takes time to set up the shocks and I don't know what "feels right" because I have never ridden any bike except the one I have. All the bikes in the $3K range are going to be good bikes. I'm not sure what my point is here. Basically I just appreciate the comments and I would like to go to Adreneline and see if I get good vibes from the Chumba.

I assure you- if you parking lot test a bike long enough.... You'll know it is for you! Trail test a bike- you'll know if it feels right... if it handles to your liking!
Trust yourself. Ask questions! Swap bikes on the trail! Join a STR group ride- you can pedal around as many bikes as you want! |

I spent almost a whole day in the parking lot at the path riding bikes on mure than one occasion... You can tell if it feels right. MAybe not in 3 0seconds or 2 minutes but after swapping several bikes and slowly funneling down your choices you will end up sitting on the one that fits you best at the end of the day...

![]() The 4 inch 4X or the 5 inch XC bikes are the same frame just a different rocker arm and shock this means it will be strong either way. That adds confidence to your riding. That is what I am talking about. Have you ever spent time on a super Lite? With a name Like Chaos you must do some wicked jumps. I am sure you know all about frame flex. I test all brands of bikes. Some feel really weak. This guy who just picked up a small XCL was riding a Santa cruz Huckler. He was saying the rear end was falling apart. He has tried a Bullet also he said it was to heavy and he was looking to make a more BMX style jump bike. The heckler is light but it flexes a lot and the pivot bolts break. Not good The whole topic of this thread nothing to do with any of that. I just feel the need to explain to my little friend Chaos where my Sc statement came from. I used the Super lite when perhaps I should of used the Huckler instead. All of the bikes travel can be adjusted. I bet that Miss Teen girl can type better than I can. I admit I suck at typing. I agree with Chaos. Test ride as many bikes as you can within your budget and go from there.
Good Luck. I copied and pasted that from the master. So you know its correct. One day I will post the decoder for all my readers so they can understand what I am saying. Then I wont sound like that Miss teen chick. |

Hey Pal- Your comment was both funny and out of line!!! Bust my chops all day long about my choice in bikes- I can take it!
![]() ![]() Not in this thread though!Truth is my UNBIASED bike search took well over a year! I tested them all. Friends began to lose faith I would ever get a new bike! I ended up with a bike that suited my VERY specific needs. To repeat, I purchased a bike that suited MY specific needs! My next bike (a FR/DH bike) will also suit MY specific needs! Will it be an Iron Horse? Most likely NOT! If they made a bike that suited MY VERY SPECIFIC needs- I would have purchased it already! It's all good! Bash me in another thread- I can take it! ![]() My point to anyone looking for a bike- buy one that best suits your needs! |

Look Jason, it's all good man. I am not trying to be a smarta$$, I was just initially trying to point out that your claims of frame strength no matter how strong and durable you might, your computer test might, or test riders might think it is, there will ALWAYS be a failure sometime or another. Take the case of my Turder Highline... how long did it take DT to finally come out with it? after years of designing, tweaking and testing I think it was nearly 3-4[??] years before it made production in 2006? Only to find that the chainstays were somewhat underbuilt for the gnarliest of riders??? Not once but twice?? So now we're on v3... errr v2.5 of the Highline chainstays! So take it in stride... the frame will break.
peace -Rodel here's to hoping my chainstays stay intact this weekend.Again sorry for the threadjack. |

There are some people on here that know about what all bike I own and like and I spent a while thinking it over only 3 of m y bikes are Chumbas. But Jack can't do everything now can he. Lets just say I have something for in between the EVO and the F5 and its not a Chumba. I had 2 bikes that fall in that category neither where Chumbas. I sold one of them to help my Vet bills for my dog Eddie.
When you know what type of riding you will be doing the most buy your bike around that. Lite is good but strong and lite is better. Neil or Dave at adrenaline will hook you up. The Path and Bike Co have a lot of bikes to check out also. The Ibis Mojo looks really cool. I was checking one out the other day . I weighed the Mojo in a size med with the shock it is 6 lb even thats good. I hear they ride good also. I rode one but only in the parking lot. The Yeti is light and can handle most of the chaos around here no problem. It will flex if you start using it for free riding. My friend has one I like it a lot. I was going to use it when I was waiting for my wheel to get finished. It's time to go try all of them out. Thats all you can do. |
