Default Chain Tensioner

Anyone have an extra chain tensioner lying around? Or any suggestions on a good chain tensioner?

It's a bit expensive, but I cannot praise the Soulcraft Convert enough. It blows those cheapo spring loaded tensioners away.

Chain tensioners suck. They make ridiculous noises, and detract from the overall clean lines of a SS.

Ya, but I believe he just bought FYRFYTRRYN's SS so he needs one. The Forte SS conversion kit Performance sells for $20 is a steal. You get spacers, tensioner, lockring and 16, 18 and 20 tooth cogs.

I agree with you though, especially after the racket mine was making yesterday.

Which is why I ordered one of these earlier this evening

A few months ago I converted my old Cannondale hardtail to SS. I bought a Surly singulator. It is pretty inexpensive and works fine.

Just use an old derrailleur. It's cheaper and it'll work better than most tensioners. It ain't pretty, but most tensioners aren't anyhow.

I got it in 19" cuz I think a 17" would be too small. I got it brand new off Ebay for only $150!!!! The seller has more too. Also available in Candy Apple Red.

Here's a link to the seller's page. He has them in all sizes.

eBay Seller: lovemyfetishbike: Cycling, Sporting Goods items on eBay.com

I will be swapping everything over as soon as it gets here. I should have the Reba tomorrow, so I'll just hang onto that until I get the new frame. The frame specs are identical to the Access frame, so swapping everything over should be a snap.

Sorry dude, I didn't mean to hijack your thread If you are really on a budget, go with the Forte kit at Performance. I did and at $20 you can't lose.

Great find!! I don't mean to copy you, but I think I may order this frame (along with a fork) instead of converting my old hardtail into a SS.

Default Heim Guide

Check out the Heim Guide. I have been running one on my Nomad for about 4 months now and its been great. Its light weight and will run you about $70 bucks. The Pathe or The Bike co will have it.
