I've got six years on a pair of midpriced Sidis (not Dominators). Just now looking to replace them. Guess what brand i'll be buying?

Which model do you have?

You know, the reviews on mtbr are HOPELESSLY out of date and erroneous. They used to be useful, like two years ago, but even then they were getting bad. It's like the admin of that site doesn't even give a crap about them. Oh, and did anyone notice that Performance took the reviews off of their site? That was a major reason I used to order from them was that I could find reviews.

Sidi Bullets, reviewed here: Sidi Bullet Reviews

I plan on buying 'em again. The newer model looks way nicer than the ones i have, by the way: SIDI BULLET 2 at JensonUSA.com

I'd say go with the Pearl's if looking for something cheap... one of the best brands out there. Specialized seems to fall apart fast. I run Shimano Carbons and I love them since they are a little stiffer than the Sidi's. I would say that your feet and head are the most important things in life, on and off the bike... take care of them and pony up for a good set of shoes and a helmet. Shoes will make your riding better and a helmet will keep you riding! I have always looked at it as buying a set of Forte's is like purchasing a new set of running shoes at Target for that marathon you plan on doing.

How long should a pair of shoes last? I've been pretty hard on my Spec'd sports (I have had to push my bike through a lot of stuff). They're still totally usable, but some of the rubber on the sole has come off. But, I use them all the time, both on weekends (road and mtn) plus commuting. I bought them back in August of 2005.

My shoes have been running strong since 2002... but I have replaced the insoles quite a few times to keep them feeling fresh. I might even try Jellon soon. I am not a hike-a-biker so I don't have much wear and tear on the bottom.

My Specialized lasted 1 year... very comfortable though...

Im gonna get the pearls I think...

My feet get bruised on the bottoms, if I pull more that a 4 hour ride with the soft soles on the specialized...

I have the old Vagabond M3 version. I actually prefer it to the M4. They look and vent better, though the M4 still is a top performing shoe. Best Value I think.
