Default Saddles

Getting back on the bike after getting Valley Fever in Arizona. Let me tell you all Valley Fever SUCKS THE BIG ONE. Put me outta commision for nearly 3 weeks.

I wanted to know what saddles you all prefer? Ive been riding on a WTB Laser V for a while and just cannot seem to get comfy with it. Tried a couple others on friends bikes but probably didnt give them enough of a go to really see what I though.

Just looking for some saddle experiences. I know everyones backside is different.

My ass isnt the smallest by anymeans, my new Coiler came with a WTB PURE V and it feels pretty good. It seems to be a bit wider than a previous WTB that I had. Not sure how much it weighs but f**kit, my bike isn't made to be light.

Welcome back btw.

Selle Italia Flite. I love it. Its fairly wide, but it has a roundish profile, so it seems to fit a range of people. I love it, and its about to go on all my bikes!

I like the pure V slt

Remember: even the worst saddle is better than having none at all.

Yikes! I had a relative who got that, and it developed into a serious case of dead. Glad you're ok.

As for saddles, the Selle Italia Flite treats me well.

WTB Devo. 190 grams for the Carbon shell. 260 grams for the Nylon shell. Carbon harder to find, they seem to be on the road bike web sites.

Wow - I'd never heard of Valley Fever, but just looked up some facts about it - nasty! Glad you're on the mend.

Q: When you all talk about a saddle being comfortable, do you really mean it's comfortable, or just that it minimizes discomfort as compared to others. I've used several (Spec BG, Bontrager, WTB) for extended periods, and the best word I can apply to any so far would be 'tolerable.' If there's such thing as a truly comfortable saddle (besides beach cruiser seats) then I'm missing out and need to get to a good LBS for some demos of different styles & widths.

Thanks yeah I am doing better. It sucked!

I guess what you said is right "tolerable". Nobody really loves the comfort of their saddle but I guess I would just do without my lower parts going numb while riding long distances and getting sore. My ass seems to fall asleep after about 15-20 miles lol. Tried adjusting seat post height, angle of saddle and nothing seems to help.

Yes. when we say comfortable, we mean tolerable, i.e. it doesn't cause severe pain.
