Default FS: IBM ThinkPad A21m (non-bike) SOLD

Hey people,

So I'm selling an upgraded IBM ThinkPad A21m. The battery doesn't hold a charge anymore, but that can be solved with a $40 battery on eBay.

The goods:
  • 800mhz PIII
  • 60gb hard drive
  • 512mb RAM
  • ATI mobility video card
  • Linksys wireless card
  • 15" LCD screen
  • DVD-Rom drive
  • Win XP (or linux if you so desire)
Apart from the battery, everything is fully functional. Would make a great web surfer, word processor, or kid's computer.

Asking $200 (obo). Let me know if you need pics.

Why am I selling? I don't use the PC laptop much anymore since I've converted to Macs. Also trying to save my pennies for a MacBook .

I'm looking for a newer Toshiba or HP notebook if anyone has or knows someone selling one.

Does it have a serial port? How much more RAM can it take?

Has a serial port, floppy drive, modem, ethernet, parallel port, pcmia type III slot, one usb port, and one ps2 port (for mouse).

Here's the specs and overview stuff. Says the max is 512mb.

Best of all . . . has a built in keyboard light.

Does it have intergrated CD-ROM. I am looking for a cheap computer to take on road trips that will accept my GPS unit (serial port) and that I can run my Topo software on, it needs CD-Rom.

When this laptop came out did come with Win98 or Win2000? How does Win XP run on it or would Win2000 be a better choice.

We just had a pretty good thunder storm and rain in Laguna, we lost power for about a hour. I posted at 1:42 not the 2:42 tagged on the post.

It rains in Laguna?

Real rain?

Came with Windows 2000 pro but the memory upgrade made xp possible. Choice is yours really. I've been running Windows xp pro for the last couple years on it and have done word processing, browsing, web devel. stuff (dreamweaver) and even the occasional light photoshop work.

As long as you run xp with all the pretty settings off and don't have spyware it runs fairly well on it.

The DVD-Rom actually pops out from the "Ultrabay." From the website:

And here's a secret but don't tell anyone: I had a burner that you can pop into the ultrabay too and I'll throw it into the sale if I find it.

Found it. Here's the model. It's an 8x burner. Took a photo of it burning a quickie test cd and a bunch of other photos.

Click for photos.

A few of those photos:

Lighting sucked . . .

Edit: Found a bunch of stuff on eBay for the Ultrabay; just type in "ultrabay." Batteries, burners, hard drive caddys, etc.
