Default WTB: Full suspension MTB for $600-$700

My good buddy is looking for a mountain bike to start riding with me. He's looking to spend $600-$700 and it has to be Dual Suspension and prefers Disc brakes.

He's 6'3" tall and weighs about 225, so I'm thinking a 19" or above size frame. Does anyone have a bike in the garage that they aren't riding to much anymore?? He's got cash and is ready to go.

Thanks

I just bought an iron horse Aniki from rscycle.com for 635.00 including shipping. they do not charge sales tax. It's a 19" with disk.

Performance bike has it for $549 and they are local to me. Is this the same bike? Click Here

What do you think of it? Is it heavy, does it have good components, how does it ride...etc?

Yes that is the same bike just make sure that they have the 19" that is why I went to rscycle The components are okay but the frame is industructable. I am just upgrading as i break stuff. it is a bit heavy if you are looking for XC riding this is more of a freeride DH bike. I took it to Bootleg over the holidays and everyone with me was suprised at the beating it took. I really like it and when I do get a XC bike I will beable to climb anything since right now this is the only bike I have.

I think this is way overkill for a "first" bike. I'd go with something with a little less weight and even less travel. You might be able to develop into riding a heavy bike like this, but why? Keep looking, you're bound to find something better in my opinion.

Wheelworld has some Kona Kikapoos that fit that price/spec request.

Yeah, wheel world's got great deals. I think though, that if you're looking at 6-7 hundred, the best bang for the buck is used. Check out craigslist, ebay and mtbr classifieds.

I defintely want to get a used bike. That's why I posted this in hear. I'm with all of you about a shorter travel, lighter bike. I found him an '04 Trek Fuel 80 only ridden 4 times(still has reflectors on the wheels) in 19" for only $600!! It was upgraded with Easton CNT bars, Easton Carbon seatpost, and some really nice pedals. It was the steal of the year, I mean this bike is brand feaking new. But it doesn't have disc brakes, and someone got it into his head that he needs disc brakes.

I've been riding XTR V-brakes forever now, and I really don't think he'll need more than that. But, he's paying, so it's his way.

You got PM.

Anyone else

I thought about the whole swaping some BB7's on the fuel, but he'd need a new wheelset as well. Then we get past the $700 mark.
