Hey, well i actually won a set this afternoon! They're Sid Blue Turbines, appear to be in decent shape.. i jumped in at about 45sec left and snaged them for 69 bucks! Im pretty stoked..
SAR, Im not to stoked on the color, so i may check on the PC option, otherwise id like to look at anodising. I would go for either a clear ano or if i was really feeling brave, gold... Other question would be, how bad does raw alu. corrode? Does it need a clear ano or clear coat? |

The place I posted a link to, Ikon Powdercoating, does anodizing too. Raw aluminum doesn't really corrode. It does corrode around salt water and if you are running steel chain rings you may experience a phenomonon known as bi-metallic corrosion which it where 2 different metals are in constant contact with one another, creating an electrical charge due to the molecular differences between the two causing the weaker of the two metals to corrode (in this case the aluminum). Corrosion on aluminum (either from the element or bi-metallic corrosion) will display itself as a white powder on the metal that is easily rubbed off and possibly black discoloration of the aluminum that does not rub off. Both of those would be removed prior to anodizing when you send them in so if you want to run them bare you can, and just send them in for anodizing once they are hosed.

the raw alu finish holds up fine, just hit it with some mother's and a little elbow grease when it gets dull. I used paint stripper, then took them down to my local motorcycle shop, where they polished them up on their wheels in about 15 mins.
