I jsut noticed the price of the XTR crankset - OMG that is a steal! Shame the chainrings are XTR specific but when the XTR 960 is selling for half the price of the new 07 cranks then who cares! LOL!

I bought my Middleburns for about that price, replacing my old XT's. I like the Middleburns better...more versitile. Square taper, or Isis, 4 or 5 arm removable spider, 165mm, 170mm, 175mm and 180mm choices...build your own gearing, run as a Singlespeed crankset without a spider. Lifetime warranty. Weight? don't pay much attention to that on the 5 Spot.

I waited for White Industries to get their new crankset done, then found a Middleburn importer.

Square-taper, paired with a Phil Wood Stainless Steel bottom bracket, Race Face steel chainring bolts...bullet proff...not a noise. Dealt with on and off creaking on my XT's. Another Shimano part replaced forever.

Bought the shoes and pedals. I never tried the Crank Bros, so maybe I'll like them more then the SPD's and go back to clipless??? I also bought a ton of other things. Best deal I thought was 10 tubes for 20 bucks.
