Default Custom PIKE 454 For Sale

A very rare VAT (Virtual Arch Technology) model.

Actually only the customized lowers are for sale, and at a very reasonable price. Even come w/ an STR die-cut already installed.

Craigger, ya still interested?

There's a long and, as usual, idiotic tale as to what happened. If I find the missing chunk and the duct tape holds, I might relate it during tomorrow's ride.

Sweet I want it, I am looking for a fork for my 29 inch wheeled bike.

How does that happen, were you riding it when it blewup. Anywho...bummer, I hope it is under waranty.

Matt, my Zocci Z1 Light with ETA is a excellent fork and it still is not broke in yet. The axle to crown is 5mm more than my Fox Vannila or Maverick DUC I had on prior. With the Hopey on it it does not wander at all going uphill, in fact I have stopped using the ETA and leave it set up in 6 inch all the time. This fork has more tunning settings than any other fork I have used. When I used to change settings on my Fox I really did not feel much of a change.

Oh snap! Literally.

Those are pretty stiff forks, I think it'll be ok

You obviously have not been making the proper sacrifice to the MTB gods. One must always pour the first sip of a beer on some dirt for their consumption.

Spill the beans dude. What happened.

It was an extreme wiper/seal replacement incident.

Decided to finally replace the stock wipers w/ the Enduros I picked up way back when. Problems started immediately when I went to remove the original part and found it had basically fused w/ the lowers. It was like Bondo--pulled on one small part of the wiper, and it just broke away. Nightmare. Had to use a razor blade to slice pieces off, and a screwdriver to dig the stuff out of the grooves. Was tearing the $hit out of the forks in the process, but was too late to turn back.

Ran into a particularly stubborn chunk of Bondo/wiper/putty crap, so put that leg on the ground (on a 2x4, actually--didn't want to damage the things...), and held the other parallel and above it. Got digging really good w/ the screwdriver and put an in./lb. too much pressure on the top leg. SNAP.

When I realized what happened, I kind of snapped too. Slammed the leg I was holding on the ground in disgust, which broke off a chunk of the arch. Adding injury to insult, that chunk bounced up and smacked me in the forehead. Got a small lump and cut there now, the perfect reminder that my wrenching skills lie somewhere between "suck-ass" and "mostly incompetent."

New lowers are already on the way, but I'm fearing the day they arrive.

I kind of hate to chuckle at ya, but my wrenching skills are just like yours. Going to be hard to convience them to warranty that.

Maybe I should buy that fork from you before you put it back together

Seriously, If you're going to get a Lyric, I'm interested in your Pike.

Not sure when the Lyric is being released, but that's indeed what I'm looking at to replace the Pike. If you can wait, it's yours. I'll even throw in an extra set of lowers for free...

Chuckle away, Dean--I know I'm challenged, and am O.K. with it. I'll get back on that horse, and muck it up even better next time.

Not even going to attempt the warranty route.

Thanks, Mike. I've had to go to the garage three times for various reasons since the incident, and every time I turn that last corner I'm shocked. I mean, the senseless carnage. Why?
