Default WTB: Commuter Bike

Hey everyone. I'm just checking the waters to see if anyone has a good commuter bike they are trying to get rid of.

I don't really know exactly what I am looking for, but I do know what I want.

I want basically a road frame that can fit larger tires on it. Maybe like a cross bike or something. I know they have commuter type bikes, but I think I would prefer the drop bars which brings me back to a cross bike. Basically, I think I want a road bike, but one that can fit larger tires on it (like 700 x 28 atleast)

Ding! Ding! Ding!

How about this?

Okay, Garage sale continues.

I have to check the size of the tires I have on it now but they're definitely pretty big.

Those tires look big enough for what i want. Where at in the OC are you? I would like to try it out some as you say it should fit someone 5'10-6'0 but I am only 5'9

Here you go man everything you need but:
wheels, tires, shifter / brake levers, and bars

Planet X Kaffenback Frame + Parts (54cm)

all for the low price of $149.00

not a whole bike, but close.

I've just been thinking of converting the old '99ish Santa Cruz Superlight to a commuter of sorts and buying a true messenger bag or something so I won't need the paniers. Out where I live anything that can't go on the dirt isn't gonna help since these roads are stupid narrow! Maybe some semi-slick 2.0 or skinnier tires...although I do dig the Small-Block Eights. Just to give you an alternative thought to the 'traditional' commuter.

Yeah, I have tohught about that which is why I was opting for more of a cross bike, but my commute is going to be like 3 miles on streets, then I am jumping on the santa ana river trail all the way up to green river. Then I am on another like 3 miles of streets, no really options for dirt shortcuts or anything so I decided more on like just a straight out road bike.

That makes sense, that sounds like a pretty good distance too. That part of the SART is nice too, good luck in your search and enjoy the commute
