Here's my DeSalvo ti 29er SS.
It's got a Paragon EBB that never slips and never creaked. It's built big and burly-ish. 23" seattube, 26.2" top tube and a huge beefy downtube and bigger stays for a super stiff BB area for out-of-saddle honking but still a comfy ride. Selling because I've moved on from my singlespeed phase. Frame is perfect. FYI, I am 6'6 with a 39" inseam. Built around a 100mm 29er fork. Wanna meet the builder? He's a top deliverer at the handmade show each year, Mike DeSalvo. http://www.desalvocycles.com/ Geometry pictured below. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() $1800 I accept PayPal. Shipping will be $50. No PMs just email me please, address in my sig.

It's hawt, that's for sure... I've become disheartened about hardtails and then recently about the SS. Plus, if I'm being whiny about details (my nature) the DeSalvo is actually a bit small. I need about 35mm more headtube to be really happy, and perhaps about 10mm more toptube. My fun factor goes up with squish and gears...nowadays. ![]()

I wonder how common this is to all who jump on the SS bandwagon. Not implying that's what you did but I'm curious. I think some people (select crazy few) either love it or hate it. I doubt there's much gray area.
I personally would die on an SS. Hell, I die on a F/S with granny rings. Nice frame craftsmanship with quality welds, BTW. Good luck selling it.

What! Now the SS goes too? You know you will want it back one day and then it's retail. As much as I like riding my RIP9 I don't think I could get what I want for my SS. What's the deal?

I've been riding an SS since 2002. It was my go-to bike for about 3 years...the singlespeed I mean. My riding has gone a different direction...I get more pleasure now through training and long distances...both of which are not enhanced by a solitary gear or a hard tail. I love the experience though. I was on a singlespeed for my first 3 VQs. The first two looked like this... ![]() ![]() The year I shaved 2h45m off my Vision Quest time I was on this very bike...she delivers! It's not her...it's me. ![]() ![]() ![]()

This is why I firmly believe in a diverse quiver of bikes. If you've been riding long enough, you'll eventually go through different phases.
I started out with weight weenie hardtails. Then I was gung-ho on the DH/Freeride thing. Had a GT DHi, SC VP Free and a Homer 5 Spot. When I got bit by the SS bug I didn't want to ride anything else. I recently rediscovered old school rigid bikes and got a little fanatic about that. Now I split my time between the road bike, rigid vintage, weight weenie FS, and SS. I still have my 5 Spot sitting in the corner collecting cobwebs. I'm sure I'll dust her off one day and squeeze into my old DH pads and pressure suit. |
