I would have to agree with that. My CK rear hub spins great and engages fantastic, but its always coming loose. At the end of almost every ride more than 10 miles the entire wheel wobbles a few millimeters. The guys at the Path "learned" me how to take it apart and fix it myself, but its such a hassle to have to do at least once a week. Then if I tighten it TOO much, it drags and pulls my chain forward when I'm coasting.
It does engage nicely though, and it rolls for days.

Well right now I have a Hope Pro2 hub and its so noisy it scares wildlife from at least 2 miles away. Plus its bugging me like mad. Way too noisy. I had a CK SS hub a few years back and really liked it.
So what are my other choices keeping in mind the noise factor?
I'd rather scare the wildlife than have the wildlife scare me. And think of how many hikers you don't scare because that sound can pierce through their ipod earbuds.
I know what you are saying, my CK is pretty loud and my buddies always comment on it. Doesn't bother me personally.
CK hubs will tend to come loose for the first 1000 miles or so until they break in. I've had my CK SS hub for 5 years now, and that bike sees the most use. It's also hosed off regularly when I clean it.
I haven't needed to adjust the hub in many years. Just a couple weeks ago, I did its first overhaul. I was waiting to see how long it would go, and so I'm impressed that it went as long as it did (the freewheel started to get really tight when backpedalling). The overhaul procedure was fairly simple, too (my first time taking a CK hub apart).
There's not another SS hub I would remotely consider over a CK hub.

I forgot that Hadley has the bolt-on setup (although it looks rather Home Depotish from what I remember). I don't think I've seen it on Hadley's website lately.

Posted a pic for ya. Been considering the Hadley myself, as they've performed very well on my geared bikes and I expect the ss to be no exception.
Found this one at Tree Fort Bikes (couldn't link directly to the hub's page) for $285--almost reasonable when compared to the CK.

The bolts on that hub look different than the ones I've previously seen. They do look much nicer.
Now if only they can make them as light as the CK hubs (usually about 50 grams difference).

Not to derail...But, comment on the pro vs cons of running Hadley's vs Hope's.![]()

I have a buddy selling a Hadley SS bolt-on hub laced to a Mavic 819 on MTBR if you're interested in a whole wheel.
