As Im sure many of you have noticed, the "MarketPlace" has grown quite a bit in popularity. What started off as a place to unload bikes and bike parts is now seeing automobiles, hockey stuff, etc. being listed for sale. George, myself and a few others have been talking about cleaning up the "MarketPlace" and will be doing so in the next few weeks.
First change, effective immediately (sunday 4/6/08 ) ONLY bike related items may be listed in STR's marketplace. (please use craigslist or the recycler to list all NBR items, thank you. Other observations made have been the derailment of peoples "For Sale" threads. Please only post if you are truly interested in the item. While the occasional 'BUMP' isn't minded by us, the things that have been driving us crazy are as follows: "Great deal, only if it was a size (insert your size)" or "Somebody is going to score a sweet deal on this" or "Too bad this wasn't listed (insert time frame here), or else I would be all over this." Well, you guys should get the picture of what we mean. This stuff has lit the fire under our arses to incorporate a new style of MarketPlace, one most likely will only allow the original poster to create the thread and then it is closed/locked. Or something similar to MTBRs classifieds. All interested parties can then PM/email/contact the person with the item for sale. We also need to discuss whether or not we will keep it bike related stuff only or not. I am not trying to be some dictator of the MarketPlace, but it is too hard to try to differentiate which post is legit, and which one isn't. I don't like to delete peoples posts, but some of these threads get so out of hand I do start deleting. It shouldnt be that hard, just PM the person or post in the thread if you are truly interested in the item. If not, then don't post. Thanks for reading and more importantly thank you George for allowing us to still have a FREE MarketPlace forum to unload our goods. -Bret, your STR MarketPlace mod.
