I have a Heckler that came w/ a Float R...the only problem I have w/ this shock is the lack of Lock Out....
I am looking for a rear shock w/ a lock out or better pedaling platform... Needs to be 7.875" I2I 2" stroke Doesn't have to be new but needs to be in good condition...

Fox DHX-Air 7.5 x 2
If I'm not mistaken, the 1/4" shorter i2i will slightly slacken the head angle and lower the BB. Good deal if you can make it work. C

7.875x2 RP3. Very little mileage. I bought a brand new 06 Reign frame from wheelworld and rode it a few months. Didn't like the way it felt on the Maestro suspension and went to a Vanilla coil. Make me an offer. I might just keep it as a spare. It has a high volume canister and a low volume canister, depending on which one you want to match your suspension.

The high volume canister helps make things really plush. However, with bikes with a high leverage ratio(Reign has a 3:1 ratio - 2" stroke = 6" suspension travel), the suspension will wallow through the travel and have no midstroke support, which is exactly what I felt. Coming off curbs, I would blow through most of the travel.
The low volume canister helped make the shock more progressive. While not as plush, I would not bottom out like crazy anymore. So depending on what bike you are putting it on, you can really customize the ride to fit you, even more than just playing with the ProPedal settings and adjusting the air. If I remember correctly, the guy I bought the low volume canister from was a Heckler guy. He replaced his original low volume canister for a high volume one. That's why he had an extra air canister. I just checked MTBR, and the XL Hecklers are using low volume canisters for a more linear feel. So at your weight, I'd recommend leaving the small canister on there so you don't blow through the travel. Last edited by 92se-r; 04-02-2008 at 08:44 PM. Reason: found some more information on MTBR |
